Frenchman who allegedly tried to grab soldier's gun at Paris airport wasn't on threat list

A Paris-born man who was shot dead by French security forces after he tried to grab an assault weapon from a soldier at a Paris airport was not on the government's list of people considered a national security threat, according to the Paris prosecutor's office.

The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Ziyed Ben Belgacem by multiple police and intelligence sources, was known to authorities for committing robberies and being a drug user. Belgacem served time in prison and released in Nov. 2016, the Paris prosecutor said at a news conference.

Investigators are searching for “clues, stories, and images” pertaining to the suspect and incident at Orly Airport early Saturday morning, France's interior minister said earlier Saturday.

Muslim name. Watch the video. He acted alone, except for the other guy they shot.

They have these pre-scripted narratives they go into: acted alone, nothing to do with Islam, not part of a larger threat.

They spew them out regardless of the facts of the specific case.

Sudden Jihadist syndrome.

Peaceable, “moderate” Muslim who becomes all urban warrior on a flash impulse.

Like he heard a dog whistle from somewhere.

It’s not a good idea to shoot policemen and grab soldier’s guns. Bad ‘work model’ - no promises that it will be ‘safe work.’

Well, at least the French allow their troops to be armed at the airport. Not like the security theater we had after 911 where the NG troops were running around with no ammunition...

Why was his father and brother arrested at the airport?

France chose to have a huge Muslim population. Constant terror is a result of that choice.

America chose differently last November. Hopefully, our new leadership will steer us away from a French future and massively reduce our intake of Islam (and other third world ills). Nothing effective has happened yet, but it’s still early.

Yep, he was a “Paris born” man, a “Frenchman”.

I’ve heard how “French youth” get violent sometimes. What happened?/ Jean-Claude and Yves and the boys go out torching cars, setting fires, attacking girls.......

They go out of their way to emphasize that he is "Paris-born" and a "Frenchman". This is suppose to blunt anti-immigrant criticism. In my view, it only highlights the problem. Muslims born in France are no more French than the leaning tower of Pisa. They are Muslims, first last and always. Second generation. Third. They have no desire to assimilate.

.
He could have easily hopped on a plane to New York and tried that sh*t there.
Vetting of incoming passengers should include and concentrate on their religious background. KEEP MUZZIES OUT, for crying out loud, even if that act would violate the First Amendment. Better a dead FA than dead Americans.

Hmmm..... Exactly. Nowadays one has to go to the original source of all news. Almost every news item is either fake news or incomplete news or old news.

Here is from Le Figaro:

L'homme, né en février 1978 à Paris, «était connu des services de renseignement», avait déclaré dans la journée Jean-Yves Le Drian, le ministre de la Défense. Il n'était pas fiché S [Sûreté de l'État] par la Direction générale de la sécurité intérieure. Il était néanmoins inscrit au fichier J des personnes recherchées par la police pour des faits de droit commun.
.....
Selon le procureur, il avait été repéré comme radicalisé en prison en 2011/2012.

A quick and dirty translation: The man who was born in Paris February 1978 "was known to the security services" said the today the Minister of Defence Jean-Yves Le Drian. He was not marked "S" (national security risk) by the main inland security services. But he was noted in a file marked J as a person investigated by the police for general crimes.
......
According to the Prosecutor, he was known to have been radicalized in prison in 2011/2012.
