For a few days, Project Veritas founder and conservative activist James O'Keefe has been hyping the release of what he said were hundreds of hours of undercover audio recordings of employees at CNN.
Some staffers at CNN were legitimately alarmed that O'Keefe would be releasing tapes that could be embarrassing for the network. O'Keefe is known for his undercover video recordings, though questions over deceptive editing and concerns about the questionable tactics used to obtain those recordings have plagued some of his prior work. Before releasing the tapes Thursday, O'Keefe was featured on The Drudge Report and on Sean Hannity's radio show, where he previewed their release.
Instead, what O'Keefe released on Thursday landed with a dull thud in the media world. Though not all the hours of tapes have been made available for review, and damning recordings could still come out, O'Keefe made clear the audio he obtained is from 2009 and for the most part features lower-level staffers at the network.

That was pretty much my own impression. A nuthin’ burger.
So hundreds of hours were released today and Politico has already listened to all of them.
And hundreds of hours are to be released soon yet Politico has already passed their judgment on the matter.
It seemed like Okeefe was too lazy to vet the videos. He said “it’s too much for us to review. You guys see what there is.”
100 hours is a lot to review, but certainly possible for a small business to do within a month or two. What an embarrassment.
Like Tuco said “If your gonna shoot, shoot, don’t talk.”
I was afraid of this being the outcome, at least right now.
But, who doesn’t already know that most the media are in the Dem’s hip pocket. This is not news. In fact, some have come right out and bragged about it, all the purposeful obstruction of full stories being covered, of both sides not getting equal treatment.
What our side needs to focus on is the moles Obama has left behind who now do his dirtywork on Trump. Rip their masks off!
And some people here will do the same thing....
I've an open mind...I'd like to see this play out....
How sad. Seems like there is a whole lot of tape that could be made; at the recent Planned Parenthood support rallies, Dakota Pipline protests, town hall protests (riding on the bus!). There’s no lack of things to video.
They missed the point, Veritas today just release RAW DATA, they don’t have enough people to comb through it, they are using crowd sourcing to find it...
This is like saying SETI@HOME is a failure because they didn’t find alien signals on the first day.
Pollutico breathes a sigh of relief.
Yep. Sounds like #FakeNews to me. PoliticoFakeNews.
I think the issue is they were from 2009.
Ha! He has them discussing their activistism and lying about the news. Just because Fox doesn't want to report or make a big deal of it does not matter.
Just because Politico says its a “nothing burger” doesn’t mean it is. Politico is the fake media arm of the Washington Compost Pile.
I was hoping it was something, but I haven’t heard anything found in it yet, have you?
O’keefe should know the attention span for the American viewer is very short. We expect most the peels, hulls, outer shells, and useless fat to be shorn away so we can all see the bright red meat at the same time. That didn’t happen, and will likely never happen in the near future.
The momentum of mystery and suspense that he insisted on building has been lost. This will be like Tom Arnold (Ex-Mr. Roseanne Barr) teasing the public about some “scandalous!” tapes he has with Pres. Trump saying ugly things.
I wonder if any one else besides O’Keefe makes any big decisions in Project Veritas. Maybe he needs to delegate more duties throughout his team and spread the trust around a little.
A bunch of people nobody heard of recorded in 2009 is a major flop after all the hype
A CNN employee said that “Fox News is unbearable.”
That’s earth shaking.
