Would it be a terrible thing to turn it into a National Historic Register House and Museum for the public to tour?

That sounds reasonable to me, but I don't know the arguments against doing it.

In general I think it is a good idea to get government out of D.C. That will certainly happen after the first terrorist nuke explodes anywhere in the world, so might as well start now.

With all the intrigue and pretty strong evidence that there's a shadow gov, it would make a lot of sense to have the Supreme Court, the HOR/Senate and the Executive in three different locations. Might help with the separation of powers.
