My kid once got a trophy for 14th place In a BB gun league.
He did well and beat 300 other kids, but a trophy for that is kind of ridiculous.
Of course, he beat me. I’ve never gotten a trophy for anything.
I did get a nice glass trophy kind of thing for being employee of the year. Of course, I got shuffled out in a reorganization the next year.
My kids wanted to find out what happened when a hammer hits glass so I gave the award to them to find out.

He is a youngster who has been CHEATED, by our school system of the lesson learned by FAILURE. Do poorly on the test, fail to make the team, don’t have lots of friends, get turned down by the class pretty girl, don’t get asked to the prom.
When growing up not “allowed to fail”, one never learns the lesson of overcoming disappointment, thus ever unable to cope with the things that inevitable do and will go wrong (such as your favorite losing the election)
