Australian Refugee "Deal"
Vanity | February 2, 2017 | Behind the Blue Wall

Posted on 02/02/2017 3:14:52 PM PST by Behind the Blue Wall

Excuse the vanity, but I've been reading about this "deal" entered into apparently by Obama whereby we agreed to accept up to 2000 Australian illegal immigrants/"refugees" into our country, and as far as I know, a deal is defined by a trade of value between two or more parties. So what were we to get in return for accepting these people?

I haven’t googled it today, but I remember when this “deal” was made. It wasn’t front page news of course, because it was stupid. But I remember thinking to myself then what Trump thought yesterday: dumb!

Officially, no information has been released on the religion of these people. Why? Because Australia's law and constitution does not allow for religion to be considered in these cases.

Because of that, all official information doesn't mention religion at all. That makes all the claims that these people are Muslim based on nothing at all. No matter how often they are repeated. A lot of people seem to just assume refugee = Muslim. In fact, there are significant numbers of Christian refugees from various Middle Eastern countries.

There are other sources besides the media for some of us. In my case, my Church has been provided spiritual assistance and support for a lot of these people. I know who they are. In many cases, I know their names. I haven't gone over myself - I'm considered too old - but other members of the Church have.

They’re not Australians but they are not Muslims either.

According to this article the vast majority come from Iran, Afghanistan and Iraq which are on the temporary embargo list.

According to the Bezos Post today, “the vast majority come from Iran, Afghanistan and Iraq.”

If they really aren’t Muslim, which is hard to believe, let’s load ‘em up with arms and ammo and send them back.

I’m a conservative and I have been all my life.

But I insist on truth and facts and honesty.

If you won’t do the same, that’s your problem.

It saddens me to see conservatives who would rather policy is based on lies than truth.

I know who these people are. You have been lied to.

We got bumpkus.
That's what we got. Nothing.
What did Obama get?
Money, cash, sex, favors...something. He got something.
If he didn't and just made the deal...a deal with absolutely NO BENEFIT to the American people, then he is a fool.
Possibly true.

First of all, I wouldn't assume the Washington Post is accurate.

Secondly, just consider - who is more likely to need to flee oppression from Iran, Afghanistan, or Iraq?

A Muslim - or a Christian?

Minorities get oppressed far more than majorities do.

We really need an investigation of that and to grab Hussein’s pension as restitution.

We have taken a large number in to the USA from these countries in recent years, I know many myself, and the vast majority are Muslim.

It’s not that as individuals when you meet them they seem like bad people, but it’s the ideology of Islam. The rise of Islamic communities in the USA or Oz will have the same outcome it has already had in France or Belgium or elsewhere in Europe where Muslim enclaves have been allowed to grow.

Islam is not compatible with Western society.

the vast majority are Muslim.

Which has nothing to do with whether these ones are.

This is the problem. This isn't statistical analysis. :)

Here's the thing - while President Trump certainly seems to have reservations about this deal, he does at present seem to be leaning towards continuing with it. He is under no obligation to do so. It would cause some minor diplomatic trouble if he backed out, but that's trivial and I don't think he cares about minor diplomatic damage.

If these people were Muslims, do you really think there's a chance in hell, he wouldn't have already completely pulled out of the deal? I don't.

Something about this deal is making him feel like maybe he should go ahead with it?

What is that?

I think it's the fact that he knows who these people are. He knows they are Christians - or at the very least mostly Christians.

And that matches the information I'm also getting from other places.

The payoff was in maintaining our relationship with Australia. In turn, Australia was going to take an equal number of asylum seekers from Guatemala so there wasn’t a net increase of people coming into the US. It was designed as a favor to Australia. Australia has pledged to never admit asylum-seekers coming over on boats. So by sending them to the US, Australia doesn’t have to manage a refugee camp that was turning squalid without backtracking on its promise.

I suspect what we were getting were these illegal immigrants to Australia and what Australia was getting was getting rid of them. I doubt there was much more to the deal as Barry made the deal.

Some of us are appreciative of your insight and comments on the issue. You have to admit that to those of us that didn’t have any background on this issue, this is all pretty strange and with the thousand other screw-jobs Obama has done, this is something giving us pause.

Some of us have posted with you for all these many years and we know your bonafides — many of us would rather grip first and investigate second.

Maybe the big deal is Trump is disrupting the sale of citizenships to these immigrants. It’s a big business deal that now has stopped. No wonder The status quo is pissed her off.
