An Albanian town has made Donald Trump an honorary citizen, hailing the US president-elect as "revolutionary" following his victory at the polls.
The town hall in Kamza, a few kilometres (miles) north of Albania's capital Tirana, unanimously voted to give Trump the honour on Wednesday.
"Donald Trump is a revolutionary model of the new democratic order" and "a great leader of modern times," Kamza's mayor Xhelal Mziu told AFP.
Trump "won his battle in spite of media attacks," said Mziu, who belongs to the rightwing opposition to Prime Minister Edi Rama.
During the US campaign Rama made no secret of his preference for defeated Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton, who won fans among ethnic Albanians for her husband Bill Clinton's role in the NATO campaign against Serbia during the 1998-1999 Kosovo war.
Kamza has a history of honouring foreign leaders, with streets named after France's former president Nicolas Sarkozy, Italy's former premier Silvio Berlusconi and Britain's ex-PM Tony Blair, among others....

Hard to believe that just 25 years ago, Albania was the last Stalinist State in Europe.
Waiting to see if they’re doing this heartfelt or if they want something out of it. Can’t be too careful after the demoncrats.
In an effort to exhibit magnanimity and a desire to put the past behind us and move forward, perhaps one of President Trump's first acts should be to declare Baraq Obama an honorary citizen of The United States.
Course this won’t be on the media news .

It is. And they love the United States in Albania. At least a few Muslims are cut from a different cloth.
The one good thing about Albania being an atheist Stalinist country for 40+ years, is that it greatly reduced the influence of Islam in Albania. It’s pretty much a secular State today.
The Muslims in Albania love the US because we stole Kosovo from the Serbs and turned it over to the ethnic Albanians living there. It would be like the UN taking Texas away from the US and giving to the illegal Mexicans that live in Texas.
