The problem is not a runaway convention, the problem is getting any amendment through. All this blather we hear from people who tell us that there might be a runaway convention is political absurdity. The arithmetic simply denies it.

You now have a Constitution that is virtually unrecognizable from the document that was written by the framers and amended by the Bill of Rights, a document that is unrecognizable from the post-Civil War era and the abolishment of slavery an and the ratification of the 14th amendment, a document that is even unrecognizable since after the New Deal.
If The Affordable Care Act and its history of misbegotten birth in the Congress and the jujitsu in the Supreme Court has not finely made plain to those who think that doing more of the same will get different results, one can only include that these people are simply resolute to learn nothing from history.
