Actually, it requires only 13 statehouse legislatures from 13 different states out of 99 legislatures in 50 states to block an amendment.

The problem is not a runaway convention, the problem is getting any amendment through. All this blather we hear from people who tell us that there might be a runaway convention is political absurdity. The arithmetic simply denies it.

Even more absurd is the blather we hear that what is needed is more of the same. Get the right justices, they say. The right congressman, they say. Get the right senators, they say.

How has that worked out for us over the last century since the progressive era? You now have a Constitution that is virtually unrecognizable from the document that was written by the framers and amended by the Bill of Rights, a document that is unrecognizable from the post-Civil War era and the abolishment of slavery an and the ratification of the 14th amendment, a document that is even unrecognizable since after the New Deal.

If The Affordable Care Act and its history of misbegotten birth in the Congress and the jujitsu in the Supreme Court has not finely made plain to those who think that doing more of the same will get different results, one can only include that these people are simply resolute to learn nothing from history.

Excellent point. Indeed, it is far easier to block an amendment because it takes only 13 state chambers inside 13 state legislatures.

After this last election, the republicans control a supermajority of state legislative chambers. But not all of the state legislators in those chambers are educated on the process of Article V.

Rest assured that many fine state legislators are in fact well-versed on Article V and they engage in state cross-talk on the subject in various state supra organizations such as ALEC.

The criminal element that is the dhimmicrat party needs to be destroyed somehow before honest government can be restored.
