Donald Trump’s decision to nominate Sen. Jeff Sessions as attorney general is being met with alarm at the Justice Department’s civil rights division and could trigger an exodus there, former officials said Friday. Longtime lawyers in the unit that enforces voting rights laws, conducts investigations into alleged police abuses and prosecutes hate crimes were already on edge about what Trump’s victory would mean for their mission, but the selection of Sessions pushed those fears to another level, former officials said.

I think you would get general agreement from anyone who voted for him. In the future we hope the delicate little snowflakes will learn something before they melt. The left is unfortunately hopeless.

Great...and didn’t we just see where someone in that group has been working illegally (not as in illegal immigrant) and her actions could be in jeopardy.

Does anyone know how this system really works. IF you want to fire these people but can’t because of the Union or whatever rule is in place..can you put them anywhere you want..just as long as they stay employed? Can you transfer them out of DC and not get a lawsuit slapped on you?

“Leave their nice, cushy federal job? Doubt it.”

Wonder why these idiots would think anyone cares? Hopefully, those who are appointees will be asked for their resignations regardless.

The great sucking sound of racially biased attorneys leaving the DOJ is more musical to my ears than Perot’s giant sucking sound of NAFTA.

Maybe some of them will turn state’s evidence to save their crooked hides and provide what is needed to lock up a bunch of the rest of them.

From what I understand of hiring practices, you can fire someone if their position has been cut and no longer exists. They have the right to apply for a transfer to another position in the government, but they are competing with other government employees for that position.

You can fire someone if they are not doing their job and you can document it. That is, you counsel them on what they are not doing (and document it), come up with a plan for them to rectify their behavior, and fire them if they do not follow the plan. It is a lengthy process. The laws about firing people are pretty strict, actually--after reading them, I get the impression that government employers could legally fire more people, but don't for whatever reason.

And the employer has the right to transfer any employee to any position for which the employee has the skills and the employer has the need. I'm not certain about the moving part.

I know. I thought about that, but then decided to discard the nuances. Can one use person here? Or does personhood conote sexuality and a sexual orientation. I have become very conscious of the discrimination against folks who have no sexual orientation, that class of individuals who feel discriminated against because sexuality and sexual orientation is not part of who they are. It’s a conundrum.
