If the government provides s “loophole” then use it.

If the government cannot control loopholes, then the government needs yo simplify the code.

Simplify the code.

Simplify the code. Yes?

Or keep it difficult so people will have to continually rely on paid experts to figure out the yearly tax conundrum.

How about keeping the best interests of everyday common folks on mind and simplifying the tax code?

Half of America uses a loop hole....their house.

It got even better....they could get a home equity mortgage to buy that little 24 footer for dad and his fishing buddies....all that interest....deductible.

When I was working full time as was my wife, we paid about 45% of our income in state, local, federal income taxes and social security taxes, and sales taxes. I sure as hell used anything I could to reduce my taxes.

We were not the rich but around 200k a year combined income.

The loss carryforward is not a loophole but a major component of the tax code which is understood by every entrepreneur in America.

It is left over from a time when the government was trying to keep businesses going and new businesses forming rather than shutting down entire industries. Left over from a time when a 3% growth rate in gdp was a floor rather than an unobtainable ceiling.

Boy, I’m wanting to pay as much as possible, seeing as how those clowns give it away to Solyndra, et al!

It’s a billion dollar “loophole,” Jennifer. He lost a billion dollars. You expect him NOT to write down subsequent profits?

Sure they do. At least int he circles I run in.

But then again, maybe everyone I know is deplorable, irredeemable, and basement dwelling.

One has to wonder how much in taxes the Clintons have avoided paying over the years. Legal OR ILLEGAL.

Hey Jenn,

As far as I can tell, there are 535 people in DC responsible for the budget. This last year, we spent $1.32 TRILLION more than we made.

That’s a loss of $2.46 BILLION per Congressperson. Just in the last year. And you’ve been doing that for pretty much the last 3-4 years, so...

By my count, Donald Trump is 10 times the business person you are, as he’s only “lost” $1 billion one time. You’ve lost $10 billion over the last 4 years - and have no plan to reverse those losses!

Jennifer, you ignorant slut.

There’s no such thing as a “loophole” in the law. The law is the law is the law. It’s written the way it is because the Legislature, in it’s infinite wisdom, chose to write it that way. Your beef, Jennifer, you ignorant slut, is with the legislators who wrote it not the citizens who obeyed it.

This is a remarkably stupid remark, even for JG, though she won't get called on it. Trump doesn't do his own taxes. His accountants do. And THEY have an absolute duty to their client to search out every legitimate deduction. They also have a duty, along with Trump's lawyers, to identify and discuss problematic but defensible strategies.

JG is arguing that the people who do Trump's taxes should engage in systematic professional malpractice. The MSM will of course concur.
