We need someone in the White House "that understands how business works," said Henderson.
Clarence Henderson, one of the North Carolina A&T students who defied segregation laws by sitting down at a Whites-only Greensboro Woolworths lunch counter in 1960, has thrown his support behind Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
Henderson joined Roland Martin on NewsOne Now to explain why he is backing Trump, who has newfound interest in Black voters and conditions in the African-American community, and why the often times boisterous self-proclaimed billionaire should be the choice for African-Americans.
Henderson said, We only have two choices, that is Donald Trump or either Hillary Clinton and my choice is Donald Trump based on his background.
He continued: America is driven economically by the business segment and we need someone in that office that understands how business works.
It has nothing to do with whether I like Donald Trump or whether I like Hillary Clinton it has to do with what is best for America as I see it.
After listening to Hendersons reasoning, Martin immediately reminded the former activist that Trump was accused of housing discrimination during the 1970s and said, The Department of Justice went after him and his family and their company twice.
African-Americans lost 53 percent of Black wealth in the last seven years due to the home foreclosure crisis That was a great moment to make money off of peoples demise.
After pulling out a number of the receipts on Trumps financial dealings with Black America, Martin asked Henderson, How do you respond to that? and added, When you talk about creating wealth, you do so through homeownership and Ive yet to see a homeownership plan from Donald Trump.
Hendersons answer: That situation came about with things such as the great society with Lyndon Baines Johnson. You have to do a comparative analysis, its not what a person says, its what a person does and Donald Trump has been judged guilty before serving within the confines of the political arena.
He [has] never been a politician he is an imperfect being just like anybody else.
Watch civil rights activist Clarence Henderson explain why he has decided to support Donald Trump for president and Martins relentless search for the details of Trumps policy plans in the video clip above.
TRUMP is for all Americans. Those who aren't label those who are. I foresee a fundamental shift towards a colorblind society as there is a multiracial, no-strings-attached effort to make America Great Again.
MELTING POT is new school. MULTI-CULTURALISM is old school.
Last week it was Quanell X.
This week it is Clarence Henderson.
Democrats have BIG problems as the black race starts to figure out they have been abused, manipulated, and brainwashed by the Democrats THROUGHOUT history.
Thank you Mr. Henderson. You’ve opened your mind and seen the light.......just hope more will do the same.
I just don’t know why more democrats don’t jump on the Trump bandwagon. I am going to vote for Trump even though I am only 60% satisfied with him. I am a rock solid Social fiscal conservative that didn’t get the candidate of my choice. Democrats should vote for Trump instead of the decrepit congenital liar like Hillary. Trump is LGBTQ sensitive, He wants to evolve into a single payer healthcare system. I believe he is going to make serious inroads into minority concerns. He is a New York deal maker, not a Ronald Reagan. I know I’ll be screaming at him within a year but you hardcore liberals ought to take half a loaf when you can get it!
I know Ill be screaming at him within a year
I wouldnt be surprised if you and others cut him some slack by that point once you see how hes drastically decreased illegal immigration, already has half the border wall finished, has started a radical reorganization of the executive departments to root out waste, fraud, and abuse, has stopped migration from Syria, Libya, and other ISIS influenced states, has worked with the Republicans in Congress to slash corporate taxes to bring back businesses, and has appointed a pro-Second Amendment Constitutional conservative to Scalias seat, saving the Supreme Court from a leftist majority.
I know Id be very forgiving under those circumstances, considering what Republican leaders have been handing us for decades. If he just gets these main planks of his campaign platform accomplished, I think he will be the best and most effective president since Reagan (and he’s always been a “doer” who gets things done quickly and efficiently). But regardless, yeah, there is zero chance he will be worse than Hillary. That should be enough for everyone.
Alveda King, MLK’s niece, also is on the Trump Train.
