As their nominee unravels, Republicans worry where his scorched-earth, rigged-election rhetoric leads the GOP and the country.
Donald Trump is on track to lose in November and to refuse to accept the legitimacy of that Election Day result. Thats a problem not just for Hillary Clinton but for both political parties and the country. For everyone, really, other than Donald Trump.
By hiring Breitbart News Steve Bannon, a media provocateur in his own image, and accepting the resignation of the man who was supposed to professionalize him, Trump is signaling the final 78 days of his presidential campaign will be guided by a staff that indulges his deeply held conspiracy theories and validates his hermetically sealed worldview.

Eli Stokols is losing it. Trump is on track for a stunning victory, NOT a loss! This article is simply amazing. It more accurately applies to Juan McCain and Mitt Romney.
We at last have a chance to win one, even though Mitt was 100% right about the 48% in the bag for the Democrats at the outset. It will take all hands to win this one and some scrutiny against fraud.
Oldplayer
rigged-election rhetoric?
I deeply hate the media.
God Bless America!!!
If any group of people are going to raise Cain after losing, it's Dems and NeverTrump GOPe-ers.
The real question that should be asked: Will Illiarily even be alive by election time.
Video of Illiarily not able to walk in NYC parade this year 26 June 2016:
Upshot of article: Trump will lose, but not concede - shattering the pillars of democracy.
Fair enough if he loses, challenges the loss in court, the issue is objectively analyzed, and the result is decided one way or another.
It’s not like Trump is then likely to raise a Tea Party Army and wage civil war.
.. for the same reason you post them here.
Exactly.
Brexit II.
Then, it's Al Gore 2000 x1000
What if Obama won’t except election results and the installation of a new commander-in-chief in 2017?
Love Al Sharpton doing his confuzzled Stymie impression off on the right.
Clown ;>)
What if Politico won’t take their med’s on Nov 9th?.... They are gonna need them...
As their nominee unravels,...
Lord have mercy:-)
I have no trouble envisioning Trump giving a concession speech - amounting to a favorite ad’s punchline “sure you can buy a hamburger for a dollar...but then you’d have to eat it.” He might just then cash out, buy some serious property out west, and declare the Trump Redoubt/Gulch where the producers can withdraw while the Left turns the rest into Venezuela Redux.
It's not just America. Global misgovernment, disease, populations without meaningful life activities, it's all coming unhinged.
I see a better chance for a reasonable future in countries which embrace nationalism. Trump's our only chance, but even with him the only way to get somewhere decent is not just with nationalism, but with much more governance going back to states and local communities.
That's my take on it, anyway.
Only if there is massive voter fraud, such as the dead voting, massive numbers of newly registered “voters” vote absentee from the same address, Dems vote both in their winter state of residence and state of residence, Dem college students vote both at college and home, and Dems voting (without required ID) for those they know are not voting or out of town.
In other words, exactly what normally happens in Dem controlled areas of the country.
Just think what the outcome would be if we voted according to Mexican voting law (government issued ID with photo and fingerprint).
Between the media and Dems (and usual suspects), we will undoubtedly see the wildest, most insane accusations of "Voter Fraud" ever seen and heard, day after day.
Frankly, I believe there's a good chance such non-stop hysteria and stoking of fires (figuratively and literally) will cause 0bama to declare Martial Law before Trump's inauguration.
Tut..Tut don’t worry. He won’t lose. So will Hillary pull an Algore and refuse to concede? Bet you won’t find any Politico articles about that.
The presumption that the Trump campaign is somehow “unraveling” is pretty much wishful thinking on part of the NeverTrumpers. No such demise is evident, even with all the course corrections and re-tuning of the staff in recent days. If anything, a much more accurate tracking has been put in place, and the “unconventional” campaign is moving into a high gear that has not been traditionally used by Republicans for years.
It is not in the Trump lexicon to lose, it is not in The Donald’s DNA to give it any less than his best, and it is not in the best interests of the future of that territory once known as “The United States of America” to miss this opportunity to resume the title of #1 in the world.
Does Bill Kristol have a new pen name, over at Polutico?
No thanks!
