If politicians don't fix the Affordable Care Act, then the vulnerable Blue Cross and local HMO plans which serve as the backbone of Obamacare must exit, said Robert Laszewski, the President of Health Policy and Strategy Associates.
"What the politicians need to do is to understand they have got about a year to fix this," he said in an interview with CNBC's "Closing Bell."
Republicans do not want to fix the existing flaws for Obamacare, Laszewski said. Instead, they want to repeal and replace it. He added that Democrats are now stating that they would rather go to a single-payer insurance plan or a public option within a government-run plan.
Thus, the political system remains fragmented. Laszewski added that regardless of the outcome of the 2016 presidential election, the Republicans won't have enough votes to repeal or replace Obamacare. Likewise, Democrats won't have the votes to pass a public or single-payer option....

Barack O’Bummer. One of the worst presidents in history.
Yes but we're talking about Republicans. They accept the foul premise, govt health care, and claim they can come up with yummier snake oil.
Obamacare was designed to collapse, and its collapse is intended to pave the way to Obamacare’s ultimate goal: single payer healthcare. All this talk about what a failure Obamacare is turning out to be is beside the point and simply a reflection of ignorance.
As it was designed to do, so that the libtards can offer single payer as a fix.
Single Payer Healthcare = Medicaid for ALL.
That was always the Plan.
It doesn’t take much to fix the system.
1. Allow health insurance companies to sell to all 50 states.
2. Mandate only one thing: if you are selling health insurance in the USA you must sell a very low cost, very low quality of care insurance policy among your choices. This is like Switzerland does. “Ward care.” Hospitals will have wards to care for the indigent and these cheap policies will cover bare bones Med care in group ward rooms in hospitals.
3. ONLY EMERGENCY CARE provided for free to non insured people in hospitals. MAKE IT SO THAT PEOPLE WILL WANT TO PURCHASE WARD CARE INSURANCE POLICIES because it might save their life or their child’s. No more illegals filling up hospital waiting rooms. If you aren’t on your last breath, out of there. We can’t help you.
Let the insurance companies sell plans of all different kinds across the board, like people buy tv’s today. There will be plans for everyone. Give the companies the freedom. Also, encourage more fee for service Med care and less insurance for doctors visits and the like. Get middlemen out like with car insurance where the insurance is only used for catastrophic things.
A bonus #4 might be to not cover medicines. Medicines for me on my Health Share are not covered. Why would I dare say this? Because medicines in this country have scam prices. If insurance didn’t pick up these astronomical tabs, the actual prices for the medicine would be affordable to all. I had a migraine pill cost over #40 a pill. Bought it from a Canadian pharmacy, made in Europe for the European market, it cost only $7 a pill. If I were buying it in Europe it would be flat out $3 per pill.
Read about how epi pens are no longer affordable. It’s a scam. Big pharma bleeds the insurance companies. That is why I might make one more change and have drugs not covered. Scary but it could end up better than where we are now. Premiums would be so low and Med prices too.
This isnt that hard to fix. Switzerland does health insurance smarter than us.
Uh, it's SUPPOSED to collapse, dummy!
I trained (3rd and 4th year) in a hospital with 24-bed wards. The respiratory building had two 70-bed wards.
It’s a good solution, but the American people will not accept two-level care.
The "fix" is in progress and on schedule.
The politicians don't seem to realize that the "fix" is not to the law directly, the fix is to the politicians who believed that you had to pass the law to find out what was in it.

Many times Trump has said that, even if it weren’t repealed, Obamacare eventually would die “on its own volition” because it’s that bad. Guess he’s been studying the intricacies of the dreadful system.
Repeal all mandates, let the existing system collapse, let the states decide on healthcare rules.
They got replaced by Neil, Suckett and Moane, LLP.
To quote an erudite citizen of Ferguson, MO (in another context), “burn this ***** down”.
Exactly as it was designed to do...
Barack O’Bummer. One of the worst presidents in history
Barack O’Bummer. The most Islamic, treasonous, liberty hating, Marxist, communist, destructive, and absolutely undoubtedly worst U.S. dictator ever. “Fixed”
Obamacare was never meant to work.
It was meant to fail miserably and massively resulting in calls for the gub’mint to “Do Something.”
That something will be single payer, so all of us serfs can enjoy ‘free’ healthcare, the same way veterans do.
Well stated. Even from the beginning the Feds admitted that there would still be about 10-20 million people not covered - sure enough it is at least that number. Furthermore, having insurance doesn’t mean you are going to find a doctor who will take care of you. They are leaving the profession in droves and being replaced by “extenders” and employed docs who are working a shift. Truly this was designed purposely to fail and to create much hardship. The PINO and his minions really do hate us to the core...even the useful idiots who still think he is a “nice guy.”
plus the networks that do take Obozocare are increasingly limited in selections of practitioners ....
“you can keep your doctor”.... yeah, SURE.....
If the republicans have the senate and the house, they can pass repeal and replace the same way the democrats passed ocare the first time around. The essentially nuked it in the senate.
Again. It won’t collapse. It will be carried forward by executive order for more subsidies, congress will do nothing, and the “rich” will just have to pay more.
