Another whimsical notion from the unflinching Daily Mail, this time regarding the frock Lady M chose for last night’s state dinner honoring Singapore:
We're going to file this one under: BREATHTAKING.
Michelle Obama stole the show at this evening's state dinner wearing a strapless gown that folded over at the neckline and cinched in her waist before it elegantly fell to the floor with its splendid statement cape.
Would we expect anything less from the First Lady of Style? [ed.I couldn’t have put it better myself]
[ed. Does anyone other than me think this “folded over at the neckline” look is a bit derivative of Mary Tyler Moore’s costume in Change of Habit?]
In typical Michelle Obama fashion, she chose an up and coming designer for this evening's stunning custom-made look by Brandon Maxwell. With a penchant for dramatic silhouettes,
pleating,
and exquisite tailoring,
Maxwell has made a name for himself in the fashion world by creating some (of) Lady Gaga's most memorable costumes and red-carpet ensembles.
Oh yes, trust me; it could have been much worse.

And the Butani diamond earrings looked nice with the “dramatic smokey eye” and pink lips.
I’m sure Singapore was impressed.
No dress can glamorize a wookie.
I have real definition in my arms and I’m 60, but I work out.
The dress looks like it was made from a cheap Motel 6 towel.
I'm not sure what you mean by relatively strong. I doubt she could curl more than 30-40 lbs. for reps - which for a man would put you at first month beginner.
She rarely smiles.........she smirks. Dress is ugly, at least on her it looks bad.

It looks like she’s standing in a washing machine.
Or a big white bath towel wrapped around her. Why do designers have to add unflattering elements to their clothes? If it had a plain neckline it would have been fine. I was thinking that the skirt should have been slimmer but then I realized it had to accommodate her caboose.
The older “she” gets, the more masculine “she” looks.

I suspect that's pretty much her outlook 100% of the time, regardless of what she's doing. Some people are just miserable and depressing.
Just look at her facial expression in all of the pics. Looks like she smells something bad. What a foul person she must be. Almost...not quite, but almost....makes me feel sorry for BO...... :-)

Unfortunately,some of us are cursed with very sparse eyebrows from childhood.
I have to draw mine on every day. I have to use a ruler to be sure they are even. My older sister gave up and had her’s tattooed on years ago.
These days I watch my 17 year old granddaughter having to fill hers in.
It’s a pain in the butt, and nothing we asked for. I dislike Michelle intensely, but on this issue she has my sympathy and not scorn.
That dress, on the other had, is ugly.
