They tried to get him to surrender for hours and he refused because he wanted to go out in a blaze of glory, shooting it out with the SWAT guys who were going to get sent in to take him.

As long as he was not going anyplace couldn't they just wait him out unless he tried to leave

You are still WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. The open carry black dude and his clothing matched that of the other killer. At this point the police believed multiple individuals were involved, using high powered rifles. I'm an advocate for the 2nd Amendment but walking around IN CAMO with a rifle strapped to your body in CITY STREETS during a BLM protest is just plain STUPID. STUPID STUPID STUPID and you can expect to be questioned if the 'suspected group' of murderers is picking off cops one after another with the sort of rifle you are ALSO carrying.

Now, who's on meds here? It ain't ME. MOST cops are here to serve and protect just like MOST posters here at FR such as myself have common sense.

I am conflicted. On one hand I agree 100% Yet, on the other hand I totally disagree.

Just as on one hand, I am not crazy about LEO using a remote control device to kill a suspect unless it is to stop an imminent action. Stealing from Swiffer, “oh Look! What's this? Someone sent an Roomba. Let's try it!” They find out Roomba is a Bomba.

On the other hand, yeah! They blowed him up real good! I hope no one got sprayed.

Life is complicated. There are times when we struggle with issues such as this. For me, today is a day I struggle with my convictions.

“I just got out of the interrogation room for about 30 minutes with police officers lyin’ saying they had video of me shooting, which is a lie,” he told CBS DFW.

Cops initially called Hughes a "suspect", and then when the guy was cleared, they said he had only been a "person of interest". Then the cops lied and tried to bully a confession out him.

His lawyer, Michael Campbell, told the station that the Hughes brothers “are believers in their second amendment rights. Mr. Hughes was carrying a gun because he could legally do so.”

Both citizens killed by cops in the week before this were carrying concealed weapons, but had not produced them before they were killed. It seems the cops have their own war on the 2nd amendment.

Roger, I do believe it is against FR posting policy to engage in personal attacks of the sort you've chosen. If you'd stick to your argument in trying to defend open carry of RIFLES while wearing CAMO on CITY STREETS then so be it. Say what you will about MLK, hes the only Baptist minister (or Christian clergy of any kind) to have a national holiday, and the only public figure whose speeches openly and prominently feature Sacred Scripture. (His main speeches and writings even quoted the Prophets of Israel and Fathers of the Church like St Augustine.)

So --- ironically or not --- it's the only way the kids can be permitted read Christ- and Bible-referenced material in the public schools,.

My literally best friend in the world --- since HS, which means ~50 years --- has the blackest black mother you ever saw (private school founder/principal) and an almost Icelandic-pale white father (industrial engineer and ordained minister.) Four siblings. All stable, sane, married-with-children, employed, well-educated, intelligent, funny, responsible, Christian, and normal.

Parking violations are one thing, driving after your license has been revoked, no proof of insurance, as well as his other offenses are totally different, and add up. Did you get misdemeanor charges like he did?

I would prefer that he had been dragged naked through the most cactus-covered part of the Texas hill country by a team of horses, and then asked politely if he'd like to answer your questions, or do it again, so I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

You can't reason with people who want to kill you, but you can sure as hell can kill 'em back. He deserved killing.
