On average, Democrats (thats my team (*) see footnote below) use guns for shooting the innocent. We call that crime.
On average, Republicans use guns for sporting purposes and self-defense.
If you dont believe me, you can check the statistics on the Internet that dont exist. At least I couldnt find any that looked credible.
But we do know that race and poverty are correlated. And we know that poverty and crime are correlated. And we know that race and political affiliation are correlated. Therefore, my team (Clinton) is more likely to use guns to shoot innocent people, whereas the other team (Trump) is more likely to use guns for sporting and defense.
Thats a gross generalization. Obviously. Your town might be totally different.

Your remark about handguns intimidating criminals by their very existence is right on. Thus, my view is that, by merely having a CCW permit, carrying in my vehicle, and having another, more powerful handgun readily available in my home, I am actually using both weapons all the time, even if I never have even to brandish one in immediate self-defense. After all, why else does the U.S. have so far fewer hot burglaries, home invasions, and other forms of violent crime than Great Britian?
“Adams is a very smart and successful person.”
If he was serious in saying that neither side is right, then he’s not all that smart.
Yes indeed. A gun, particularly a handgun, is a criminals worst nightmare when it isn’t in their hand. As was said about Sam Colt, if memory serves, God made man; Sam Colt made them equal. Something like that anyway...
I know quite a few older dems who still think the dem party is what it was 40 years ago. I have to explain to them that party you loved no longer exists. The liberal/progressive/socialist/gimmedats own it now. What they really are is Independents which think more like the old dems from before the takeover. I actually feel sorry for them; especially once the light comes on in their eyes and they start seeing things for how they really are rather than how they remember them to be. Unfortunately some never wake up and will likely meet their maker filled with ignorance. Sad really.
>To wit: If I could snap my fingers and ban guns beginning tomorrow - forgetting the 2nd Amendment for a moment, it would likely do no good.
And still does nothing for the machinists, CNC/3D-printers, let alone the ‘build-it-from-plumbing-aisle’, etc.
Revert to the ol’ patch/ball....one can always make their own gunpowder (presuming they outlaw bullets and re-loading as well).
Nope, guns will *never* go away....for criminals.
“In other words, guns are generally instruments of affirmative good because they enable the peaceful and law abiding people to protect themselves against criminals and terrorists. That, of course, makes gun grabbers affirmatively evil.”
Indeed.
God made man, but Sam Colt made them equal.
Bttt
“I endorsed Clinton for president for my personal safety.”
Then he makes himself into an enemy.
Because if Gummint could 'control' them 99.999% of the time; then there would be still 3500 folks out there that are uncontrollable.
You can only 'control' by making them ALL illegal to have.
No; we have a SUBSIDY problem.
Whatever you subsidize; you get more of!
Legislation stops NOTHING!
Only raw power does!
After you Shoot; use the OTHER two esses:
Shovel & Silence
Then you must have never had a corporate job.
...he stopped drawing Dilbert years ago, and hasnt resumed.
Coulda fooled me!!
Because our 'stuff' is less valuable that the Brit's stuff?
SHHHhhh...
You'll get the fed's looking in my barn for...
When taters and hair styling materials are illegal; then only crooks will have hair spray and spuds!
I didn’t.
Sparklite2, isn’t as if I came in here with the sole purpose to tar a Trump supporter, in this case, Scott Adams.
He was an “entertainer” I used to enjoy at one time, and he posted on some page of his something that made him look like a far left liberal moonbat. I was quite disillusioned with him in much the same way as I was with Roger Waters (of Pink Flo
People are allowed to change their mind about things. Maybe he did come out and disown what he had said.
I never heard otherwise, and was surprised over the last six months to hear that he was actively posting political opinions again, which if he was in the intervening years up to that point, were not being picked up and disseminated on places like FR. His political opinions may have gotten a lot of coverage at DU or Huffington Post, and I would not have seen it, because he stopped getting a much coverage around here.
I understand that you are upset because I made these statements without providing you a specific example which saw a matter of years ago on the Internet. But I am not making it up to slander an innocent person. He was saying many of the things I was hearing from the mouths of the Code Pink and Moveon.org people in the counterprotests we were doing down in Washington DC.
