Boing
Too, it just occurred to me (and I haven’t yet seen this discussed anywhere) - what did the look on Jaime’s face mean while he looked upon the coronation of Cersei?
He - the “King Slayer”, killed the “mad king” for merely threatening to do essentially what Cersei ACTUALLY DID!
A moral conundrum we have - hmmm...
I think Bran will tell Jon, and Bran’s almost at The Wall.
But Bran has also been “marked” by the Night’s King. If Bran goes under The Wall, will he undo all of the magical protections?
GRRM is notorious for using unreliable narrators.
Crowning Cersei without resolving Kevan is a big loose end. Won’t say it’s a mistake until we see if the show clarifies the point, but when last seen Kevan was the regent, was Top Lannister, and was a voice of sanity and thoroughly disgusted with the hash Cersei was making of things. That’s a lot for the show to simply forget. I would have thought they’d have killed him off first. Was his presence established in the sept prior to the fire? A number of faces were shown but I didn’t notice Kevan’s.
Kevan was in the Sept. He was standing next to Mace Tyrell.
“Since evberyone else is dead, Cersei is basically the only person in the government left alive”
This was a decapitation strike on the whole Government. Anybody who was anybody was at the trial. The Hand of the King was killed, the Master of Coin, the Grand Maester - we must assume that most senior leaders in the Government, and the leading nobility were all exterminated. How many more Houses will turn on the Lannisters, because of prominent family members killed in the Sept? (The Fiery Trial? Trial by Fire? Wild Trial? Green Verdict? Holy Hellfire Batman!)
The whole crowd for Cersei’s coronation were pretty young. Just about everything throughout the Government will now be run by a new boss, learning on the job - just what you would want for your enemy before an invasion.
I’d bet some of Hillary’s deleted emails have to do with wine-boarding people, I can so see her doing that.
As for crowing herself, why the hell wouldn’t she? Right of...I’m not sure if “conquest” is the right word but..yeah. She’s in a terrible position though, with Freys uh, digesting, the Lannisters have no allies. I wonder who the legitimate Baratheon heir would even be, go back far enough and there’s surely a cousin (like Harry the Heir for Sweetrobbin in the books) possibly with a different last name, but it’s unlikely anyone gives a damn about this person’s claim to the throne. One of Robert’s bastards might have a better claim, that would be Gendry in the show. I think the Baratheons are pretty much effed, they’d be lucky to hang on to Storm’s End when all is said and done.
I didn’t really care for the situation in Dorne now, Ellaria calls the shots be she has no claim to be Princess, they didn’t say what if any title she’s claiming. I would think that if there’s no legitimate Martell heir then the eldest Sand Snake (Obara) would have a claim.
Great episode, great musical score.
So what’s the back story on Sam as a Maester? I mean...who cares and why is his story worthy of film time?
LOL, probably
Bran will show up right after the union has been consummated. Ratings are ratings.
Well, if the “little sibling” from the prophecy could be anyone’s sibling then that basically means everyone except on the planet except firstborn children are possible suspects. If that’s the case, then there wouldn’t be any point to even mentioning that in the prophecy because it wouldn’t be an identifying characteristic.
So I think it must mean either Cersei’s “little sibling”, or the “little sibling” of the younger queen who will come to supplant Cersei, since they are the only other figures mentioned in the prophecy that could possibly fit. We don’t know who the younger queen is yet, though. There was speculation it would be Margery Tyrell but she’s dead, so it can’t be her. The strongest candidates now seem to be Daenerys or Sansa Stark. If it turns out to be Daenerys, she doesn’t have any “little siblings”, but if it turns out to be Sansa, then yes, Arya could be a candidate for the “little sibling”. Jon Snow even used to call her “little sister” as a nickname, so that could be foreshadowing.
He’ll probably find the one piece on info hidden in those books to beat the white walkers.
Winter is Here now, and they are coming!!!!
That seems to be the obvious way to get the White Walkers into play for the end of the story, short of someone destroying the wall...
“Crowning Cersei without resolving Kevan is a big loose end.”
Kevan was “resolved” in the Sept of Baelor earlier in the episode. He was hanging out with Mace Tyrell right before the green stuff went kablooey.
*BOOK SPOILERS*
In the books, Sam is the POV character to show that there are some shady dealings going on in Oldtown, where the Maesters are trained. One of the archmaesters, called Marwyn the Mage, has returned from the east after searching for lost knowledge and he has gathered a little group of conspirators around him, including an undercover Faceless Man and one of the Sand Snakes from Dorne, pretending to be a boy to get trained at the Citadel.
The books haven’t revealed exactly what they are up to yet, but the best theory is that the Faceless Men have acquired a dragon egg of their own and are trying to get access to the last copy of a book that may tell how to hatch dragon eggs...
Cersei went full Sith lord.
I find a satisfying symmetry in that we now have two queens who incinerated their political rivals/enemies will now face off next season.
It will be a short face off, since only one of them is fire proof.
My bet is that Jaime strangles Ceirse when he discovers she plans to blow up all of King’s Landing rather than surrender it to Dany’s (overwhelming) forces. Or maybe stabs her in the back exactly like he did the Mad King. Kingslayer becomes Queenslayer.
Jaime is the younger twin and Tyrion may only be a half sibling...
Classic prophecy where failure to understand and attempts to avoid it only serve to bring it about. Jaime will strangle her with his golden hand.
