The Confederate flag is a treason. Brave men, including ancestors of mine fought to put that flag in the ground. Should be be proud of men who’s intention was to divide the nation half slave and half free? I don’t think so.
“The Confederate flag is a treason. Brave men, including ancestors of mine fought to put that flag in the ground.”
Some of us have ancestors who fought on both sides of that conflict. I do.
My GGG grandfather, George Bibb Crittenden, fought for the CSA, while his brother, Leonidas Crittenden, fought for the USA.
And those are only two. I have more.
Are you asking me to renounce my forebear?
The Confederate flag is not treason. Confederates were not traitors. Only those who owe allegiance to the US can commit treason. Once the Southern states seceded, their people no longer owes allegiance to the USA. The Confederacy was not form until AFTER the first states seceded. Those who were later admitted to the Confederacy also seceded first.
They were enemies of the USA, not traitors to it.
They weren’t trying to DIVIDE the nation. They were trying to LEAVE it and create their own.
