Forgive the vanity. My son just got back from taking the ASVAB for military service. This test attempts to measure aptitude and abilities for service. The highest possible score is 99. The lowest score for a marine corp officer is 74. He scored a 97. That's the highest score I've ever even heard of. So, proud poppa alert.
Congratulations—I’m sure he’ll get to choose any career wants.
My son-in-law was one of those rare 99%-ers and they offered him a nuclear engineering position or anything else he chose.
Congrats and thanks in advance for his soon-to-be service.
That’s awesome!!!
Congrats! What branch? My son got 96 on it.
High five!
He is looking at the Marines.
Here’s a funny for you.
My daughter, a lifetime Army Brat, was raised around military bases. When the time came for her to start dating, she had a lot of soldiers showing interest.
Once they actually asked her on a date, she had one question before she’d accept. “What was your ASVAB score?”
Under 94 and she’d tell them to ‘have a nice day’. (Daddy was MI, so she was a little biased.)
The hilarious part is that guys loved this screening process. She made a lot of true friends this way. She’s now engaged to (roll drums) an MI NCO.
Hey! I resemble that remark.
Congrats.
You have a smart kid.
(My buddy and I aced it back in 78. I was already headed to a mil college and he was an ivy leaguer. The recruiters were calling us all summer!)
Outstanding! Hope he does well (but you already know that he will).
Nice.
Congrats...to your son and you!!! There is a reason they call them America’s “best and brightest”...and Thank God for them!!
Congratulations.
Did he tell you his GT score?
He had an entire spreadsheet of various score interpretations. I don’t recall a GT but it is quite possible it was there. What is it?
Sorry, should have said congratulations, first.
I got a 91 on mine, the look on my recruiters face when I said I wanted to go into the 03xx field (Infantry) was priceless.
With such men among us, there is still hope.
General Technical. It’s one of the most important line scores for the ASVAB.
