I mean, I knew this was going to happen - that bammy was going to become even more devisive, even more of a race-baiter. Still makes me angry to see it happening even though you could see this coming years ago.
I have done the research. My wife and I visit lots of National Parks and National Monuments and National Sea Shores, and National Battle Fields. We even drive long distances on National Historic Trails.
We have a National Park Passport book that collects stamps with the date of the visit. I recently bought a second and placed more pages in the first because we ran out of room for stamps
One can not say that there are no blacks in the various National venues. However, there are very noticeably very few. A good example is the Fort McHenry National monument in Baltimore. It is in predominately black region of Baltimore city. There were some, but very few visitors visible in the museum or on the grounds. That is also true of the places in DC.
As you get away from the DC area, the black visitor population diminished dramatically. The park service has gone to extreme lengths to always have a black exhibit that might be barely relevant. Black participation of a minuscule level is touted. Yet, in the exhibit there are very few black people.
It can be argued that although black lives are said to matter, black history apparently does not
The point is that educated blacks desiring to learn seem to be a minuscule part of the American population and not a great percentage of the black population.
another subject.....
A great way to experience America is to buy a NPS pass port and carry it along on every trip. The pass port provides incentive to travel, to collect stamps and to learn about America first hand
