This level of shilling in the face of unpleasant reality should be enough to destroy the reputation of anyone who engages in it. Of course, in the case of Erikson, the point may be moot.
I may be wrong, but gut instinct is telling me that Eric Erikson just hasn't come to his senses yet. I have listened to him on talk radio in Atlanta for a long while and considered him a Christian and conservative.... I was a fan and enjoyed his show. I think that Eric wanted so much to believe that Cruz was our Christian "savior of the nation" that his faith is rooted in that premise now and he considers standing up for Cruz to be synonymous with standing with Christ and will stand till the end if need be.
What Eric is forgetting is that Christians need to put their faith in Jesus Christ ALONE, not in a man. And be ready to rethink the situation if the man who you thought was following Christ becomes obviously a liar, then to not consider yourself untrue to the "cross" for adjusting your support.
I do hope that I am right about Eric and that he will see the truth sooner, rather than later.... I still think he is an honorable talented man and trying to be a Christian.
