What Cruz doesn’t know is that if he is successful in blocking Trump, these so-called new backers are going to throw him under the bus for someone they can control.

Cruz is very bad in picking allies, frankly. Glenn Beck, Neil Bush.....he even teamed up with little Marco to undercut Trump when he should have been going after Marco.
That big, big mistake is why he is so far behind in the delegate take right now. He is just bad all the way round on reading people.

Hasn't Cruz “complained” that the nominee must be one of the top two finishers. Does it make him a strawberry counter if they give it to Kasich on the third vote and he cries fowl?

At this point do you really think Cruz or any other candidate would want Trump over almost anyone? Trump is a joke of a candidate. The most ProLife candidate in the race? Five positions on abortion so far? Three H1B the positions in two hours. 70% of women hate him. He has no idea how he would fund general election if he wins. Doesn't understand delegate selection rules.
Trump is done. Finished as a candidate. You can bellow how many delegates he has. But we all know that if he does not win on first ballot, he won't win.

Let's assume that this is true. At this point, so what? Why shouldn't he stop Trump? You guys seem to have the idea that Cruz should say to himself something like, 'Get the Establishment is using me and will throw me under the bus, I guess I should reject their support and just let Donald win this thing.' Why would he possibly do that?? What has Donald done to deserve an 'assist' from Cruz? You're talking about someone (Trump) who has done nothing but trash Cruz continuously for 2 months. What's that old saying about payback?

What makes you think he isn’t already under their control?
He has the Bush team on his team now.
He previously voted for Corker and cloture for TPA.

It is why the eGOP has been putting out the talking point that in the last 10 contested conventions 7 times they have selected someone that wasn’t even running.

If he doesn’t realize that he’s seriously in denial- maybe he’s betting that he can pick up enough Trump delegates on the second or third ballot to win.
What’s going to happen is that he will experience the full force of the opposition that is now aimed at defeating Trump.
