Larry Dawson, the gunman identified as the shooter in Washington, DC today, shouted that he was "a prophet of God" at the House of Representatives in October in a separate incident.
They were quick enough to identify THIS one by name. If it had been obviously of some ethnic “minority”, it would have been kept kept as a close state secret for months, at least until after the November election.
No member of Congress is entirely safe. There are a lot of “eyes on” just about any time, day or night, and this action by the Capitol police only brings a temporary surge in vigilance, which subsides into almost apathy within only a few weeks.
Like the disturbance in the hen house after the fox slips in but is confronted and detained before any serious damage is done. That does not mean there is not another fox out there waiting until opportunity presents itself.

CNN reporting that the wounded gunman is Larry Dawson of TN, aged 66. What is being described as his pick-up truck is parked in a lot near the Capitol.
