We know a guy who is a great deal like Ted Cruz. He had the same kind of awful childhood. His dad abandoned his family when he was little. It left him with a lot of emotional turmoil. He has struggled with alcohol at time. On the outside he seems very successful, but he lies all the time.
He blames his mom for his terrible childhood and even told her so when she was on her death bed. He is constantly looking for female validation and has had a lot more than 8 affairs even though he has remained married for over thirty years. Just like Ted he almost always goes after younger women who admire his perceived position in life.
Yet our acquaintance is a Sunday school teacher and an “upstanding” member of his church. He is very articulate and has run for political office as a conservative; I suspect that one day he will be successful. Like Ted he doesn’t seem to feel any guilt about the hypocrisy of his situation. Maybe if you actually knew someone like our acquaintance you would find this story more believable.
your friend isn’t running for president. Would he believe no one would notice his eight mistresses?
who knows, right?
I said during Obama first term...
May we never again, elect a President who was abandoned by his parent(s)
The type of individual who craves the Presidency craves attention and admiration by others. They have many more opportunities for indiscretion that average folks.
In addition the “blackmail theory of politics” suggests that they would not be successful in politics unless wealthy supporters (individuals, corporate, whatever) were confident that they could be blackmailed and controlled as needed.
Furthermore politicians are polished liars—that is their job.
I have no information about Cruz’s life—but he does fit the profile of a serial cheater—agreed about that.
