The 'whispering campaign' subversion goes way back. Pick any example, like Grover Cleveland, or even Thomas Jefferson, and you still won't find it's beginning, unless you cite what the serpent told Eve, perhaps.
These days, however, what no one might dare to say only in whispers a century ago has circle the globe seven times before Truth gets its pants on. Truth needs to stay in armor.
Demonizing the unliked candidate is standard form and has been since the inception of the Republic. I’ve seen chamber pots with the likeness of candidates who ran in the nineteenth century. (In case you don’t know what a chamber pot is, it was a ceramic receptacle kept under your bed for use when going to the outhouse was inconvenient.)
But the anti Cruz and Trump stuff is over the top. Mistresses, foreign wives, pornography and financial impropriety and now this. What’s next, they are the devil incarnate? Hitler reborn?
I stopped reading anything about the candidates once they became candidates. I formed my opinions on their prior accomplishments. (I didn’t need to form anything on Hillary Clinton because I was alive when she was the wife of a governor. Simply an amazing biography. Astonishing she has kept out of prison this long.)
