1968 was the most TURBULENT year of this baby boomers lifetime. Tet Offensive, assignations, riots-you name it. 1980: Under Jimmy Carter we had hostages in Iran, Afghanistan where the Russians invaded, very high interest rates and what have you. In each case the voters settled the issue by electing a Republican in November to put a stop to this nonsense. 2016 is not 1980 but I see the same pattern here. Is Trump the answer? Will the Republican voters blow it this time?
INDUCTED, VOTED FOR REAGAN, GAVE UP ON REPUBICAN PARTY AND ESTABLISHMENT
I have said it a number of times. What we are experiencing now bears a lot of similarity to the late 60’s and early 70’s.
Last night in Chicago were the real “fascists” in action. The anti-democracy, republic form of government and FOR a dictatorship of the “proletariat, following their socialist leader Bernie Sanders and also their allied Black Lives Matter folks.
they were showing that they have learned from bh0, Bill Ayres and the 1960s red-diaper babies who have gained control over this nation’s universities.
this is the new version of the 1972 McCarthy-ite protests at the Democrat convention, but now directed at the Republican’s who they see as “their enemy” rather than as “political opposition.”
Yep, 68, 80, 16.
BIG years. Very big.
Vietnam. 200 body bags a week. Not the same thing.
I’m speaking more to the discontent among the public. Vietnam was just one reason. Remember, we went through that, the sexual revolution, the counter culture, civil rights movement, women’s movement, domestic terrorism etc. We’re experiencing a new sexual revolution, gay rights, ongoing civil issues, our involvement in the Middle East and domestic terrorism.
BTW.... Bill Ayers was spotted at the protests last night....
I missed 1968—Basic training, AIT, OCS—all that BS, then overseas for a couple of years.
I have never felt at home since.
Nevergore,
Yes, there was a clip on one of the Fox news programs, Hannity?, showing Ayers being interviewed by what looked like to be a local Chicago tv news reporter.
Of course, Bill Ayers would be there to watch his revolution.
