MIT Report: Carbon Tax Necessary to Break Fossil Fuel Dependence

Renewable energy advocates like to point out that the cost of renewable fuels, like solar power, have dropped substantially in the last few years. The cost of solar power for instance has fallen by more than two-thirds since 2009. Yet for all the excitement about renewable power, the reality is that the entire energy sector has essentially been in a state of deflation for the last decade. The notable drop in oil prices over the last two years aside, costs of producing oil both in the U.S. and in many parts of the world have fallen dramatically. The phase out of coal in the U.S. has been driven not by government regulation, but rather by the economic forces associated with cheaper U.S. natural gas production. The cold reality for renewables is simply this; conventional fossil fuel costs are coming down just as fast.

The power to tax is the power to destroy.

to Break Fossil Fuel Dependence

And replace it with what, geniuses?

If they were actually sincere about that course there should be a proven replacement technology ready and waiting in the wings, but no, they want to take the corrupt route, scamming their way to power and money.

The insanity of liberalism never ceases to raise it’s ugly head.
Mentally diseased should be totally irrelevant to the issue.

Translation: the stuff we like is too expensive. Even the rubes can’t be convinced to overpay for necessities. The only way for us to get our wish is if we force everybody to pay more than the producers want to charge, then we can take the excess money to sink into our bottomless pit projects.

MIT, I am sorry but you are incorrect. What is needed is a technology shift that powers our cars that is cheaper. When that happens, the market will automatically move in that direction.

Yes. He is having a bad day. He believes that by taxing all businesses more (increasing gov. revenue because they never have enough, poor children). Our precious planet will be saved from a problem that does not exist, however if global warming is happening due to natural cycles, how wonderful. Are gardens will produce more.

For what purpose?

Physicist Howard Hayden's one-letter disproof of global warming claims [pre-Climategate]

Dear Administrator Jackson:

I write in regard to the Proposed Endangerment and Cause or Contribute Findings for Greenhouse Gases Under Section 202(a) of the Clean Air Act, Proposed Rule, 74 Fed. Reg. 18,886 (Apr. 24, 2009), the so-called "Endangerment Finding."

It has been often said that the "science is settled" on the issue of CO2 and climate. Let me put this claim to rest with a simple one-letter proof that it is false.

The letter is s, the one that changes model into models. If the science were settled, there would be precisely one model, and it would be in agreement with measurements.

Alternatively, one may ask which one of the twenty-some models settled the science so that all the rest could be discarded along with the research funds that have kept those models alive.

We can take this further. Not a single climate model predicted the current cooling phase. If the science were settled, the model (singular) would have predicted it.

(excerpted from Professor Hayden's letter to Lisa P. Jackson, Administrator Environmental Protection Agency. More at link.)

How about Massachusetts form their own country, and carbon tax themselves right into the Third World?

More Gruber grant money I see. He’s still working that “people are too stupid” angle for government rewards to make their way to his bank account.
