We the undersigned, members of the Republican national security community, represent a broad spectrum of opinion on Americas role in the world and what is necessary to keep us safe and prosperous. We have disagreed with one another on many issues, including the Iraq war and intervention in Syria. But we are united in our opposition to a Donald Trump presidency. Recognizing as we do, the conditions in American politics that have contributed to his popularity, we nonetheless are obligated to state our core objections clearly:
His vision of American influence and power in the world is wildly inconsistent and unmoored in principle. He swings from isolationism to military adventurism within the space of one sentence.
His advocacy for aggressively waging trade wars is a recipe for economic disaster in a globally connected world.
His embrace of the expansive use of torture is inexcusable.
His hateful, anti-Muslim rhetoric undercuts the seriousness of combatting Islamic radicalism by alienating partners in the Islamic world making significant contributions to the effort. Furthermore, it endangers the safety and Constitutionally guaranteed freedoms of American Muslims.
Controlling our border and preventing illegal immigration is a serious issue, but his insistence that Mexico will fund a wall on the southern border inflames unhelpful passions, and rests on an utter misreading of, and contempt for, our southern neighbor.
Similarly, his insistence that close allies such as Japan must pay vast sums for protection is the sentiment of a racketeer, not the leader of the alliances that have served us so well since World War II.
His admiration for foreign dictators such as Vladimir Putin is unacceptable for the leader of the worlds greatest democracy.
He is fundamentally dishonest. Evidence of this includes his attempts to deny positions he has unquestionably taken in the past, including on the 2003 Iraq war and the 2011 Libyan conflict. We accept that views evolve over time, but this is simply misrepresentation.
His equation of business acumen with foreign policy experience is false. Not all lethal conflicts can be resolved as a real estate deal might, and there is no recourse to bankruptcy court in international affairs.
Mr. Trumps own statements lead us to conclude that as president, he would use the authority of his office to act in ways that make America less safe, and which would diminish our standing in the world. Furthermore, his expansive view of how presidential power should be wielded against his detractors poses a distinct threat to civil liberty in the United States. Therefore, as committed and loyal Republicans, we are unable to support a Party ticket with Mr. Trump at its head. We commit ourselves to working energetically to prevent the election of someone so utterly unfitted to the office.
I certainly hope none of these people are in charge of anything.
They are hysterical.
+1
So let’s get this translated:
We are the asshats who got us in this mess and don’t effectively oppose Obama and his minions, and we know we’ve lied to you again and again, but like a battered wife you keep coming back to the ol’ GOP. We like our gig, so please believe us just one more time. Honest. This time we are putting the country ahead of our own interests. Honest.
Trump doesn’t speak in soundbites, or live by the teleprompter. He sounds like you, not us, so he’s an idiot.
We have to screw you in international trade deals or we’ll offend other nations.
Torture used on head-chopping fanatics who want to kill us wholesale is bad, even if our own guys undergo it in training.
Speaking openly of Islamic violence might offend Muslims abroad and at home. We’ll send your kids overseas to kill a few now and then, but hurt their feelings? Can’t happen.
You can’t have a wall. Might hurt the cheap labor market.
Our allies can continue to get a free ride courtesy of the US military and you taxpayers that fund it.
Trump’s admiration of strong leadership makes us wet ourselves, and we can’t figure out that admiring a strong leader doesn’t mean endorsing his methods. Well, we can, but we’re hoping you’re too stupid to do so. Obama twice, remember?
He lies. Take it from us, we’re experts.
Just ‘cause he gets things done doesn’t mean he can get things done.
As party before patriotism traitors, we don’t like it when he kicks our ass and threatens our rice bowl. We are all in to destroy him and make sure you puke little voters shut the Hell up.
I agree. It is obvious that these politicians who have time after time sold their vote to the highest bidder are totally unqualified to represent us the American citizens. We have heard the RNC and everyone one of these low life’s promise us that if we just give them this they we will do this and that. We have seen them lie as they have done nothing they promised and never will. I am damn sick and tired of these professional con artists doing nothing except enriching themselves while our country is repeatedly sold off piece by piece to the highest bidder and they do zip as long as they get their cut.
Honest to goodness, is this crap for real? Ike mentioned the military-industrial complex.
He would be overwhelmed at what we are facing now.
People are more scared of an outsider than they are about 19T in debt and millions of more invading our country.
You wrote that trash, didn’t you?
Bunch of "Good Shepherds"?
Yup. We the people want the borders secured and the illegals deported. We want the law enforced, dump the sanctuary cities and dump the anchor babies. Stop the illegal alien invasion and stop the Muslim invasion and attempted colonization of America. And we truly do want to bomb the shit out of ISIS, then get the hell out. But no nukes for Iran. And those who kidnap Americans (or commit acts of terrorism/war against us) should get the snot kicked out of them by the strongest military in the world. No pussyfooting around. And we want our freedom back. Cut the unconstitutional socialism crap and the federal overreaching! Cut the taxes, cut the spending, cut the regulations, cut the government, cut the debt, cut the corruption! Do whatever it takes to straighten out the loser trade deals, bring back capital, bring back manufacturing, bring back jobs! Stop the idiotic war on coal, gas & oil, stop harassing our mining, logging, drilling, farming, ranching, fishing, industrial and manufacturing industries. Knock off the global warming malarkey, cut the globalism, quit trying to take our guns! Set our people free to produce and prosper and worship in peace.
Effing big government RINOs should not be seen or heard.
Go, Trump, GO!!
This is the kind of fighting spirit that has stymied Obama at every turn! Oh, wait.
Need read little more beyond this silly assertion. These foolish people are assigning words and positions to Donald Trump that most likely are plain wrong.
They are showing no common sense. Better that they said nothing rather than making fools of themselves!
yep
Boo hoo - Nice try GOP puppeteers - Is that the best you’ve got?

The Evil Mystics of Nowhere Condemn Presidential Candidate Donald Trump
|
My take is simple:
Here is a man who cannot be bought/manipulated/controlled, and thus is not a reliable candidate to push the GOPe agenda, which now is a leftist/crony capitalist agenda focused on reducing American citizens to mere serfs with a far lower standard of living.
The donor class and the power elite must be pooping themselves right now: a motivated electorate is the biggest hurdle to their agenda.
That is the greatest value Trump brings to the table: He is upsetting the paradigm. If nothing else, he has reset the game for many years to come, hopefully.
What are you doing up so early/in the middle of the night?
What is interesting in this letter is that they are guilty of the very unhelpful posturing they are accusing Trump of. This does not appear to be a serious document by serious people (North Korea, really?!) if they wanted to offer critique and not blow smoke into an already hazy political landscape, that would have been useful.
All of this “vetting”, false or not, should have been done 7 years ago by the media, for the nominee. No matter what Pelosi signed off on.
You hit upon a salient point: we are actually at the point where our country is being sold off to foreign interests.
The Bundy Ranch standoff/Russian uranium scam is merely the latest example.
Rural people are getting herded into the cities, as per the plan. I used to think Agenda 21 was a conspiracy theory. It is not.

Eliot Cohen, counselor of the Department of State during President George W. Bush’s administration
Cohen clarified that he would vote for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton over Trump if those were his only options. He also organized a response via open letter that was signed by 60 members of the Republican national security community “united in our opposition to a Donald Trump presidency.”

Cohen helped to organize an open letter signed by several dozen GOP foreign policy insiders many of whom are not considered neocons that was published Wednesday night by the military blog War on the Rocks. [W]e are unable to support a Party ticket with Mr. Trump at its head, the letter declared. It cited everything from Trumps “admiration for foreign dictators to his inexcusable support for the expansive use of torture.”
The letter was signed by dozens of Republican foreign policy experts, including Boot; Peter Feaver, a former senior national security aide in George W. Bush’s White House; Robert Zoellick, a former deputy to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice; and Dov Zakheim, a former Bush Pentagon official; and Kori Schake, a fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution and a former Bush State Department official.
The Leftists create whatever official sounding name works and usually pretend to be the opposite of what they say they stand for to fool people into believing a lie. Its the new liberal / progressive standard. They've taken lying to a new level the last 7 years with a pathological liar who pretended to be Christian to get elected but is actually controlled by a Satanic moon god's earthbound servant (Soros)
"Dear Mr. Trump, We, the architects of everything you're running against, don't think you understand how, while America may "appear" to be naked, is actually clothed in the finest raiments in all the world, So much so, that we have it on highest authority, only fools would not be able to see the obvious splendor.
If Paul Harvey had ever done a "The Rest of The Story" on "The Emperor's New Clothes," it would look just like this "community's" letter.
