How long before Secret Service details are ordered for all Supreme Court Justices?

Color me surprised that he did not have a security detail.

I thought that was standard for these guys. Unless they choose not to have it.

They already protect each Supreme Court Justice. Scalia declined protection at the ranch. I suppose the Federal agents thought it would be OK.

The U. S. Marshals are responsible for their security. IIRC, it was Scalia’s request they not accompany him
