The point I was making is that Hillary’s husband did it! It’s not impossible, and I don’t recall the left complaining about it.

I was waiting for Jeb to jump in and say something completely non-sequitur in Spanish.

You missed the point.
Cruz made a point that Rubio was saying something different to spanish audiences than what he was saying at the debate.
Rubio intimated that Cruz had no idea what he said because he was relying on someone else interpreting. Cruz responded in spanish to show he did not need an interpreter.
The point was similar to what Arabs say to the english speaking press and what they say in arabic to their own people, not that speaking spanish was a requirement to be president.

"I donât know who came across worse last night: Was it Marco Rubio for thinking it a bad thing that a presidential candidate doesnât speak Spanish? Or was it Ted Cruz thinking it was important to let us know that he did."With some of the comments being made on this thread, I am not sure how many watched the debate. Cruz said that Rubio spoke Spanish on (I think it was on Univision ) and said Rubio told them he would not recind Obama's immigration policy. Rubio responded how would he, Cruz know what he said because he accused Cruz of not being able to speak Spanish. Cruz then replied back to Rubio in Spanish. It was a great comeback.

"Still does not change the FACT that it was hysterical to see two Cubans arguing over who was the biggest liar... forcing one to demonstrate they could speak fluent Spanish...."
Now, this is neither here nor there, but just to go off on a side track (for just a second or two), here's a youtube video clip of another Cuban guy speaking English:

The dumbest part of it all has to be Rubio thinking that no one at all can speak Spanish and that no copy of his Univision appearance exists. Either he thinks that or he just played the lamest bluff ever.

I watched most of the debate last night but missed that exchange. Having just watched it, I agree that it was a nice comeback by Cruz. When I originally read about it, I thought that Rubio was criticizing Cruz for not speaking Spanish and then Cruz replied in Spanish to prove that he did. But that wasn't exactly how it went down.
Would have been even funnier if Cruz had said something like "Don't be such a pompous ass Marco" in Spanish.

I hate that Rubio said something about his vision of amnesty on Univision that differs from his English talking points. Its despicable, it feels like betrayal in plain light. Just like Yassir Arifat or that odious Luis Gutierrez. It should disqualify him from serving in the Senate let alone running for President.

Cruz said Rubio said something to a group in Spanish that Rubio claims he never said. Then Rubio said to Cruz, in effect, you donât speak Spanish (ergo what the hell do you know abut what I said) Cruz responded back to Rubio in Spanish.... [making it clear that Cruz was a jerk]The important point is that Rubio tried a bluff and it backfired. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Do you want your President doing that. Imagine, "Puty-Put, you don't know jujitsu," or worse, "you don't have nuclear weapons." Said President finds himself on his back or worse finds himself, his Whitehouse and Washington DC a smoking crater.

I wonder why Rubio thought Cruz could not understand Spanish? Is there a history of Cruz saying he does not speak the language? I do not know the answer.. But Rubio sure seemed positive that Cruz did not know Spanish.

There has been a rumor around that Cruz does not speak it but he is my senator and I could care less. If Rubio thinks it is so important he needs to move to Mexico.
Cruz needs to keep trying to stay out of the sewer fighting with Rubio because the little guy is such a cold faced great liar. Do not take the bait and attack donnie on an intellectually higher plain where the yankee thief is lost. Trump was so lost on the international discussions last night.

Correct, that is true. However the âsmartest man in the world had no clueâ Just as the same entity has no clue as to how to balance the checkbook.
No Sprechen Sie Deutsch My dad was German, spoke German on occasion but never taught his children the language. As we live in the southern most part of the US of A, we learned Spanish if for no other reason than the TV stations in this region tend to air more in that language than English. That and there is a variety of buttons to push...1 for English, 2 for Spanish. What will become of this when there are more languages than buttons?!!Lol, thanks for the explanation. MUY BIEN dicho.
