Trump says Tea Party is irrelevant
Canada Free Press ^ | 02/14/16 | Rolf Yungclas

For being so smart, as you say you are, Mr. Trump, you sure are ignorant of what's really going on in the political sphere

On Thursday, Donald Trump tweeted what amounts to his analysis of the latest five years of the Tea Party movement: “Remember, it was the Republican Party, with the help of Conservatives, that made so many promises to their base, BUT DIDN’T KEEP THEM! Hi DT” (February 11, 2016, 10:14 am)

Sorry, Mr. Trump, I don’t remember it that way. It was the Republican leadership in the House and Senate that BLOCKED the efforts of conservatives and those affiliated with the Tea Party from accomplishing their goals in Congress. Conservative House members that resisted the big-spending business as usual of Speaker of the House John Boehner were removed from committee leadership posts, and others abandoned their conservative promises to avoid being punished.

My memory is a little different.

The GOP was more than happy to accept the support of various TEA Party organizations during the elections but, once safely in office, snubbed and dissed those same supporters.

The most egregious example of this occurred in NOV 2014 when Boner and McTurtle surrendered to Obama while the votes were still being counted.

I will vote for any republican that is nominated except Trumpy... of course... he isn’t a republican anyway. But yeah.... if the party nominates Trumpy... I will stay home for the general election. I will not vote for that liberal.

The Tea Party walked into D.C., took a drink from the first water fountain and blam! went liberal like every other ex-conservative there.

I don’t think Trump actually said what this headline implies. The truth is he was correct in his tweet. Look at the Corker bill as an example. Every republican except Cotton voted for it. Sasse, Ernst, Cruz, Rubio and all of the Senators who ran as conservative candidates except Cotton voted for that POS. Did any of them promise to empower Obama to lift the Iran sanctions and let Iran build nukes when they were campaigning for office? Looking at that example, how is Trump wrong?

Trump is always right. He's even right when he's wrong factually, or when he disagrees with himself. We cannot hold him to the standards of ordinary humans.

Of course, this is why I support him for President. I believe after he wins the presidency, he will nominate (and win) himself to the Supreme Court, and make the best Jurist decisions ever seen by man (perhaps even overturning 200 years of case law with nothing more than the power of his personality). I think he can run Trump Inc., the United States and the Supreme Court, all the while bringing jobs back from China, Japan, Mexico and Vietnam and personally oversee the wall at the southern border, work with Putin to defeat ISIS and make America great again. If anyone says otherwise, expected to be called out on Twitter.

The FRumpsters are now sounding like Salon or Democrat Underground as Trump parrots their Iraq talking points.

Trump hearts pro-abortion, baby-part-selling Planned Parenthood.

Mocks the disabled.

Trump is a 1st class New York Jacksass.

I was elated when. The throngs of thousand of tea party folk descended on D.C. Several years ago. Then, they disappeared.

Obama sic’d the IRS on them and instead of doubling down and sending 2X the people to march on Washington, we heard crickets.

Then the TP split into a few small factions, all claiming to be THE tea party, each doing “fund raising”, trouble is, the lack of unity discouraged and confused people as to which “tea party” to support.

Nowadays, it’s become an adjective the liberals use to describe conservatives, while implying that the TP all live in shacks and trailer parks.

It was an excellent idea in the beginning, but lacked the leadership to hold it together. So, maybe Trump has a point.

a while back I asked several people on FR about their choice if it is Cruz/Clinton in the general. About half of the Trump supporters that answered said they would vote Hilary over Cruz. No Cruz supporters said they would vote Hilary over Trump. Admittedly it was a small sample and not scientific but it scared me none the less. Who is running this train off the rails, Trumpsters or Cruzbots?

GOP frontrunner Donald Trump took up for the Tea Party to a Left-leaning crowd at the No Labels Convention in New Hampshire Monday morning.

“I love the Tea Party,” Trump responded when an audience member asked about his thoughts on the Tea Party and the House Freedom Caucus, as well as the possibility of a government shutdown over defunding Planned Parenthood.

“These are people in all fairness, these are people that love this country. They do love this country and they want the country to be great,” Trump defended. “They don’t want Planned Parenthood funded… I understand that.”

The crowd booed, but Trump didn’t budge. He said he agreed with the Tea Party.

“...The my guy or no vote at all attitude is pretty childish, and the title of conservative comes with a purity/litmus test very few can pass.”

While I do see many with a pretty strict “litmus test” that not even Reagan could pass. I think we need to have some tolerance on some topics. I look for a candidate who is closest to my beliefs which are very constitutionally conservative. Not only do I look at what a candidate stands for now but also what have they done or believed over time. I feel we should also look at a person’s personality and temperment. We don’t want another sexual predator, criminal or race baitor in the office again. I also don’t want a person who when criticized (as a president often is) responds with insults, threats and taunts. A president should have good advisors but also must have good knowledge themselves of the issues, for example; knowing what the nuclear triad is.

It is for the second list of things I don’t want that I can’t support Trump. Yes I would take him over Hillary or Bernie but I fear his demeanor, attitude and ego would be too damaging to the office and ultimately to our country.

I know I’m in the minority here on FR with this opinion but watching those tantrums over and over last night was just ridiculous.

@$$holes occupy both camps. I can only speak for myself by saying I would not vote for Hillary or Bernie under any circumstances. I would think seriously of staying home if a brokered convention puts up anyone who did not get the votes of citizens.
