In a stunning reversal, Donald Trump said that he will strengthen the rights of the LGBT community and bring people together. His new stance comes just days after he said that as president, he would “strongly consider” overturning Obergefell vs Hodges, the Supreme Court decision that found that same-sex couples have a legal and constitutional right to marry.
“I’m a lesbian, we’ve had some great progress for the gay and lesbian community,” NECN reporter Sue O’Connell told Trump. When President Trump is in office, can we look for more forward motion on equality for gays and lesbians?” Here is Trump’s response:
“Well, you can. We’re going to bring people together, and that’s your thing, and other people have their thing. We have to bring all people together and if we don’t we’re not going to have a country anymore.”
Now that’s one big flip-flop because in addition to Trump saying he would appoint judges to overturn Obergefell vs Hodges, he has stated in the past time and time again that he only supports marriage between a man and a woman. He has said:
“I’m not in favor of gay marriage. I don’t feel right about marriage equality.”
Trump has even gone as far as to compare same-sex relationships to choosing the wrong kind of golf putter! He said:
“It’s like in golf. A lot of people — I don’t want this to sound trivial — but a lot of people are switching to these really long putters, very unattractive. It’s weird. You see these great players with these really long putters, because they can’t sink three-footers anymore. And, I hate it. I am a traditionalist. I have so many fabulous friends who happen to be gay, but I am a traditionalist.”
In trying to rationalize the irrational, it’s most likely that Trump is pandering to New Hampshire voters for the primary, 67% of whom support gay marriage.
Totally agree.
The governor of Iowa is in the tank for the ethanol people. He bitterly opposed Cruz all along.
Cruz apologized because he is a gentleman and he was sorry that the CNN report was disseminated to some voters without being verified. He neither made the report nor passed it out. He would not blame his supporters for a mistake made in their enthusiasm. Others might have taken that course but he did not.
Carson conveniently forgot who totally ruined his campaign... Donald Trump. Trump was furious when Carson was leading in Iowa. He intimated terrible, unforgivable things about Carson. I haven’t forgotten.
Also Carson privately accepted Cruz’s apology but then could not resist the fact that he was getting the first press he had gotten in weeks. Real cheap shot there, Carson, thought you were a better man.
As I have said in the past, I truly think the Duck's gears are slipping a wee bit... He can't seem to remember what his position is from one day to the next...
But that's also a sign that he doesn't speak from his heart...in other words, he lies like a dog..!!!
MHO... :)
"Yesterday when CNN reported and put up a post that Carson was not continuing on to New Hampshire and was not continuing on to South Carolina, but instead was flying home to Florida, our political team forwarded that story to our supporters," Cruz stated. "What the team didn't do is, subsequently, the Carson campaign put out a statement, clarifying that he was not suspending his campaign, and the team did not forward that statement to the supporters as well. That was a mistake. It was mistake for us not to have forwarded the second statement as well. And I apologize to Ben for our not forwarding that second statement."No admission of cheating at all. Big organizations do make mistakes. Cruz took responsibility for a communication error that happened on his watch. Trump and Carson threw a temper tantrum. Not nearly so impressive as the adult response of Cruz.

I wouldn’t ask anybody to make my decisions for me let alone to do my thinking for me. If you buy that “revolving door” garbage, you will believe anything. Stop listening to “soundbites” and start using that gray matter between your ears. You’ll sleep better at night.
Surely in your faith there is an answer. How do you save them?
GBLQ folks do not reproduce. Those with children usually adopt.
They do reproduce, spiritually. Many homosexuals are child molesters who drag young children into their world of homosexuality. You don’t need to have children to reproduce if you suduce the children of others to become children of sin.
It’s a valid point that the Teddy fans refuse to acknowledge. Why would the ‘honorable’ and Christian Ted apologize if he knew he did nothing wrong?
I’m so sick of the whole thing, he did a dirt ball move, got caught and the cheering squad just keep tossing more garbage in the mix...it’s very ‘lawyer like’, talk talk talk, confuse, muddle, get off point and somehow they believe this helped!
Free will.
Really no, it isn't a valid point. See my post 164. Ted's apology was for an error his team made. That's it. If you have a child that throws sand in the face of another child, you apologize, right? But you didn't do the wrong deed. The child did a wrong deed, and you scold the child, and accept responsibility. Why? Because you are the adult.
Now imagine you are a good, decent, Christian person in charge of an organization of thousands of fresh recruits, and someone under you in the chain of command starts spreading what sounds like a legitimate story and spreads it throughout the organization. Then later they fail to circulate an important update to the story. Did you do anything wrong? No you did not. Do you still accept responsibility for the errors of those under you? Yes you do. It's called leadership. It's not an admission of personal wrongdoing. Not even close.
So my question is this: Why assault the honor of a fellow believer in Jesus if there is no basis for doing so, other than damaging him? I do not get why FReepers are doing this. It seems insane to me.
Peace,
SR
Gay and lesbian individuals can not be stereotyped as child molesters.
Sin is all tied together, one begets another, if not in you then in someone else. Break one commandment, you have broken them all.
I don’t believe that.
And the huge tariff thing.
The Cruz campaign's sound bites of Trump saying how great Cruz is and how Cruz is stable and non-controversial remind me that one can find sound bites of Trump of both sides of pretty much every issue.
