It was a joke. He was making fun of The Crybaby's latest tweets. He referred to them at Trumpertantrums and said his little girls are more mature. He was mocking the buffoonery that is Trump.
Cruz did when he was behind closed doors with the gay guys in NY. He said he was fearful of Trump’s finger on the button. Someone taped the conversation and it made the rounds. The NY Times referred to what Cruz said. At first Cruz denied it, until the tape was played.
