This was in the 70’s and early 80’s.
When I worked in the projects, if you had something, it was best to keep your mouth shut.
I remember one where the family was out and they stole the clothes, shoes, pots and pans...
It was common to dress ‘ghetto’ and NOT practice regular hours, change when you get to work and change for the ride home, if someone thinks you have a ‘good’ job, it could be trouble.

Besides, selling drugs is easy money and rabble-rousing is more fun than working. And it’s not just blacks...whites and hispanics also choose this life of being supported by the government, selling crack and heroin and causing trouble protesting, defacing property AND are praised by our current occupier of the oval orafice.
I remember watching the riots and looting in Baltimore on TV while one of the news people lamented the lack of jobs in the city. The TV showed a bunch of animals destroying a police car. I commented to my wife that the people rioting were unemployable.
There is a huge pool of unemployable people in our big cities. They lack the most basic job skills:
-Honesty
-Reliability
-Presentable appearance
-Good hygiene
-Basic reading and language skills
-Punctuality
-Cooperation
-Basic math skills
-Courtesy
I don’t see a way to turn this around, although I there are lots of politicians with very expensive ideas on how to make it even worse.
The shorter version I prefer is “God bless the child that’s got his own”. And it was written by Billie Holiday. That should be an additional selling point, at least if they attended school during Black History Month.

Until J Jackson & co became involved; the unions could not comply with all of the demands. JJ sent them by the busload and they dropped out just as fast.
The pipefitters union moved WAY out, the land was cheap.

Just think: if you vote for Trump, maybe you'll have an opening at some of the blue-collar jobs currently being given to illegal aliens under the table.
Raise the minimum wage that will help. Then, make sure welfare benefits pay more than minimum wage. That will work. Just ask progressives. If that doesn’t work, blame whitey.
