Latest national polls show Donald Trump and Ted Cruz well ahead of their rivals by double digits. Much to the delight of the left-leaning media, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and the Democrats, this prime time "bashing" is fragmenting our party and chasing away would-be voters whom Republicans need to win the general election.
Instead of bashing each other to death in public in an attempt to secure the "top" Republican spot, how about an alternative strategy? How about a "grand coalition" instead of a fight-to-the-death match ?
If Cruz and Trump step back and look at the banquet table before them, they would see this: Any unifying (repeat: unifying) Republican candidate should easily defeat Clinton or Sanders if he or she does not alienate the base, and if he or she does not alienate independent voters....

We all are, 2DV. Heck I know I am, I struggle every day to try and succeed in spite of myself.
That NRO hit was merely to get us back on the plantation.
It failed miserably.
It’s regrettable, but expected. These guys are trying to win, only one can, they are both throwing blows, and I respect ‘em for that.
Tired of wimps all the way around (JEB!).
Bear in mind that Cruz renounced his Canadian citizenship in 2014, or was it 2013?
I know I don’t like it. I know that Trump is much more liberal than I would prefer in a candidate. I don’t need to be told that over and over, I am aware.
But I believe he genuinely loves America. I but his leadership ability is far greater than anyone else’s in the race.
His ability to appeal to other that would not generally vote R matters. It matters a lot.
Assuming trump wins the nomination, there is virtually no Republican he could pick as his running mate that would not piss me off greatly. I can’t stand the GOP.
I would be happy if he chose Cruz. Cruz is basically the only GOP pick that would not anger me.
Exactly.
It was 2013, iirc. However, I don’t know if Canada even uses the term natural born citizen. What we do know is that at the time Cruz was born they did have an anchor baby type law, so Cruz was automatically a Canadian citizen at birth.
For all I know he was eligible to run for prime minister up until 2013 when he renounced his Canadian citizenship.
His mother being an American citizen makes him eligible to run for our presidency because he is by law a citizen at birth and the current legal definitions being used say that citizen and birth and natural born citizen are equal. That has never been heard in court, but no one has ever challenged it.
Oops... but = think* in that post.
So was Jefferson, an d everyone else.
There has NEVER been a “perfect” president, nor human being.
He wasn’t born on this soil, and Congress won’t give him a pass on it. It is irrelevant anyway because he is going to lose.
Not gonna happen. One is Conservative, and the other liberal.
Again....NO; BOTH PARENTS MUST BE CITIZENS OF THESE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AT THE TIME OF THE CHILD'S BIRTH, FOR SAID CHILD TO BE A NBC!
Don't agree, don't like it? Go rail at our government, because THAT is what THEY say!
I would also be happy if Trump chose Sarah Palin to run with him, but I wouldn’t wish it on her after what happened the last time. If you are looking only at the people currently running I think that Rubio is his most likely choice. It would placate much of the GOPe. Carson is also a possibility.
What better way to solve the dilemma? Count me in - at least twice! It’s always been the two and will continue to be the two. Both are needed on this team. FIRST, we must know Cruz NBC status, the truth please and nothing but the truth; then we can continue this discussion.
I would be furious if he picked Rubio. I’m not sure I could support the ticket if he’s on it.
Rubio is a flat out liar. I already voted for him once, and I won’t do it ever again.
Carson I am pretty much neutral on. He just doesn’t really seem to have the personality for this I think.
I don’t think I would be angry if trump picked him, but I would be scratching my head a bit. I’m not really sure Carson brings anything to the table.
Cruz is a very smart man, which makes me wonder why he has even fought back. Donald Trump has won all of these battles.
If the government was saying it there wouldn’t be the argument that is now ongoing over Cruz’s status.
I agree he’s going to lose, but it makes a VP difference.
Trump would have to flip-flop on the elegibilty issue, which would be no big deal for him. At least all the Trump supporters here would fall right in line.
I will vote against any ticket with trump on it.
