A fascinating comment on Rick Moran's blog about the Iranian capture of our sailors is making waves in the blogosphere and on Facebook. It makes a lot more sense than any of the official explanations we have received for the capture and subsequent release of the sailors.
Thomas Lipscomb explains:
Flash! A former Navy SEAL, Matt Bracken, just blew up what I have been calling "a pack of lies from the US and Iran" on what the hell happened that got our boats captured and taken to the Farsi Islands.

My remarks were picked up and quoted in a few op eds and blogs, some of which gave citation, and others that didn't.
I was pretty much flattered. That said, I'm not a published author with a brand to protect, so I concur with you...they should have followed up with you if they were going to cite you.
“Truth will out?”
I’m still waiting for the truth on Fast and Furious, Benghazi, etc.
Early in 2015 I penned the Elitist Vs. Us article, wherein I postulated that it is not (R) vs. (D) or even Conservative vs. Liberal. Soon after, the whole of the conservative blogosphere and talk radio began mirroring my thoughts. I believe some people thought of it independently, but I also believe I helped solidify an important meme.
I don’t know if I should be flattered or insulted.
But after numerous rejected (form rejections) submissions, it felt rude to be “used” for an article by Thomas Lifson himself, the owner/editor of AT, without even a contact or notice.
Just rude.
Yeah, sometimes there are just concurrent reinforcing ideas going out. It all adds up.
Being used is simply an acknowledgment of your usefulness :-)
...and since precious few of us have the skill to write well, it’s important we continue to be the one-in-ten-thousand who stand forth and hold our ideas aloft, to either create or reinforce ideas.
Until they kill me (and they will), I will express myself. Look for a new article in the next 48 hours, titled “Headlies”, which will explore how our media became the Ministry of Propaganda.
I still tip my hat to you, though, because you are — frankly — a better author than me.
(I don’t say that to a lot of people)
Taxman Bravo Zulu, Matt! For calling it like it REALLY is!
You are not the first, nor will you be the last, journalist to call the Ophonybama administration “LIARS!”
They are LIEberals!
And, LIEberals LIE!
Keep the Faith! And press!
Please post Lifson’s email address.
I guess your writing isn’t good enough for them until it is, but only if you don’t submit it, or something like that. Pretty piss poor on AT’s part. I agree that your conclusion is a likely scenario, but I think it’s worse than that. I believe a stand down order was given. How high up? Who knows? Plenty of bootlickers in the c of c. Btw, my son trained with that unit this summer and he says their top notch.

The LT in charge would have it drilled into his head:
1. YOU WILL NEVER FIRE UNTIL YOU ARE FIRED UPON!
2. YOU MUST CALL HIGHER AND GET PERMISSION TO FIRE!
The Iranians know that as sure as I know my name. This gives them the total opportunity to capture our small boats, just by 1. Jamming outward comms and 2. Edging in closer and closer, until it’s point blank range, and then demanding “Surrender or die!” over a loudspeaker.
That’s assuming his comms were jammed. If they weren’t, he received a stand down order. Same outcome either way. I still have a problem believing we don’t know where everything down to the last floating styrofoam cup is in the gulf.

Yes, that’s true, the LT might have been directly ordered to surrender.
They’ll bury it with Fast and Furious and Obama’s role in Benghazi the night of the attack.
okay....so it’s slow, but remember the Venona Files.
Up to us to get rid of both sets of pols to get to the truth, one man on his own needs NCO’s and rifle companies or something.
;>)
It doesnât make sense that that ship was so far off course....Boat, not ship.
I would bet it was pure laziness that they did not contact you about this article you wrote and nothing personal against you.
You are doing an excellent job in your commentary and it’s much appreciated, Travis McGee. I have learned a lot from you. Keep up the good work and don’t let the dummies get you down.
