Stinkinâ Canadian. Dang feriner, conspirinâ to come over here and replace our delicious, crispy, all-American bacon with that floppy, communist, Canadian crap. And Budweiser? Like your Budweiser? Forget it. If heâs elected, itâs nothing but that skunky Molson swill for you, my friend. Football? Banned. Itâs all sticks, pucks and missing teeth from here on out. A wall on the southern border? ISIS? TB-infected Mesicans and Central Americans? Ha! A mere diversion. Trump needs to build that wall up north to keep commie Canucks like Ted Cruz out of the White House.
Heâs gaining on The Donald, you see. And so finally the question of his eligibility to serve as our 45th U.S. president is fair game. Oh, sure, Ted grew up in Houston, Texas. And, oh, sure, his mother, who happened to be over the border in Canada when Ted was born, is a U.S citizen, herself born in Wilmington, Delaware, which, oh, sure, automatically makes Ted a U.S. citizen from birth. But, hey! I, the guys down at the Elks Lodge with their pocket constitutions and whatnot, and Donald Trump, who, with his own political self-interests in mind has suddenly flip-flopped on the subject, all disagree. Ted Cruz is ineligible to serve as President of the United States based upon our extreme-minority take on the phrase, âNatural-born citizen.â
For that matter, and based upon our own arbitrary and narrow definition â I know, itâs not defined in the Constitution, but derpity derp derp anyway â some might suggest that eight of the first nine U.S. presidents should have been ineligible to serve as well. Since they were all born as British citizens in the British colonies, George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, et al., should have been, one and all, constitutionally ineligible.

Just to inform others that he might be impartial and that his reasoning might be compromised by said impartiality.
BTW, the author should be aware that Canada has its own slightly modified version of football.
You still haven't had enough coffee. Both parents must be U.S. Citizens to confer natural born Citizenship status to their child.
It's simply no help to Cruz, because, although he is covered by it, he's not covered by the "born in US" part.
We don't even have to get to the legal term of art, "natural born citizen." If Cruz is in the 14th amendment, he's naturalized.
You nailed it.
I can’t believe Cruz wrote that nonsense.
And by the way, the Framers did not typically offer vague notions that were adjustable to fit the desires of one group today, another group tomorrow. Cruz was born a citizen by statute. To explain, because some people need explanation, he is only a citizen because of congressional action. Without this action he would be a foreigner, and not a citizen of any sort. Natural born citizens need no statute. The day they are born they are citizens NATURALLY because they were born of citizen parents in the country.
Quarter of Republicans think Cruz’s birthplace disqualifies him for president: poll

The ‘G’ OP has found a way to sabotage us. Cruz gets sympathy now, and after the primary, they have a contingency plan to pull the rug out from under him. In the meantime, Trump and Cruz supporters slug it out viciously. While Majority Leader Mc-Conman laughs.
25% is a big chunk of the voter pool.
That is chump-change compared to Phase Two.
After the primary, that would be a BIPARTIZAN majority.
I don’t think this is at all fair to Cruz, but until he challenges Professor Laurence Tribe to a debate, Trump and Cruz supporters are locked in a cage fight of the ‘G’ OP’s making.
McConnell: No, Senate won’t pass resolution affirming Cruz’s eligibility like it did for McCain
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3382813/posts
Why can Mc-Conman do this? Because he has a revered creep — Professor Laurence Tribe, undermining Cruz [regarding natural born status].
Tribe is a creep, Mc-Conman is a creep, and they flock together. The ‘G’ OP would rather lose than let Cruz OR Trump win. And those hypocrites will sabotage either of them at the first opportunity.
So, unless Cruz can turn this around, it’s ‘checkmate’. If he wins the nomination, he could lose the race over this one issue alone due to a hypocritical double-standard [in natural born status]. I’ll get into that double standard in the next post. It’s not good for Cruz, but to all Cruz supporters out there — please don’t kill the messenger.
Next post coming up....
I love your tagline. It works both ways. What good is a country if you don’t have a Constitution to go with it...
Selective Conservatism: Bitch and moan about a Kenyan’s ineligibility long enough until a Canadian is available.
In the above post, Mc-Conman’s Senate had backed up McStain’s natural born status. But more importantly — I don’t think there’s a single Establishment senator who was an Obama-birther.
And McConnell’s refusal to back up Cruz the way he did McCain? Telling. Throwing Cruz under the bus. Sick, hypicrital. EVIL.
But ...
Based on research by Greetings Puny Humans, according to original intent neither Obama nor Cruz are qualified.
Hypocritical in light of Obama? You bet. But the Ruling Class really doesn’t care how it looks so long as no conservative is President.
And since Chief ‘Just-us’ Roberts acts like he’s being blackmailed, that makes me uncomfortable with Cruz as our nominee.

The first from the law of nations, which requires the child to be born to 2 citizen parents and on American land. The second under British Common Law, as seen in Blackstone’s commentaries, which, though it removes the requirement of being born in the US, transmits the ‘natural born’ status through the father, not the mother.
Hence why a couple of the liberal scholars keep saying ‘under an Originalist view, Cruz would not be eligible,’ because that’s exactly true. A renowned originalist constitutional scholar (frequently cited by the supreme court) even said the same thing: ‘Cruz is not eligible.’

“What good is a country if you donât have a Constitution to go with it...”
What good is a country if the constitution is used to destroy it?
If you have to be born on the soil to two US citizens, then Obama is ineligible even if he WAS born in HI. This is obviously not the standard which is in use. Obviously, one citizen parent will suffice.
According to GPH’s study of original intent [I copied in post 28], only the father’s citizenship determines natural born status. Not the mother’s.
Outdated? Probably.
Unfair? HxLL YES!
Obama did not qualify either according to original intent.
I imagine that is why Trump sited Professor Laurence Tribe. Until Cruz can discredit Professor Tribe’s opinion he has a problem.
Wow I expect better from WND. Pathetic.
That wasn't the question. The question was regarding the right of women to bequeath their citizenship to their children on an equal basis with men.
In point of fact the term 'natural born citizen' isn't defined anywhere in the Constitution or its Amendments, and never has been.
It doesn't need to be. All we need are readers with actual reading comprehension, along with a knowledge and understanding of historical context.
‘What good is a country if the constitution is used to destroy it?’
This really stinks. On the one hand Obama was given a pass. But not a conservative.
Unless Cruz can form a far stronger argument than this silly article, he will divide conservatives. Mitch McConnell and his buddy, McCain, devised this cage fight between Trump supporters and Cruz supporters. [How it was done I posted above.]
While Cruz supporters scream bloody murder and cry foul, it’s so very easy to dust off original intent — father’s citizenship determines natural born status. Not mother’s. [Probably why Cruz won’t take on Tribe in a debate.]
And with Mitch McCon-man’s senate willing to be hypocrites — anti-establishment voters will be at each others’ throats.
Geeze, not this again.
You still haven’t had enough coffee. Both parents must be U.S. Citizens to confer natural born Citizenship status to their child. YES!!!
AND TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR POTUS.!!!
Should we post the American mom/Iranian dad scenario again?
THEY DON’T GET IT, AND THEY DONT CARE AS LONG AS THEIR CANDIDATE GETS ELECTED!
This is a partisan distortion of the originalist view.
In summary, he is doomed.
DOOMED, DOOMED I SAY! We shall see who is doomed and who is not.
