I know it was named after Amerigo (go Italians!) :)
I wonder how America came about from that name.
And to be honest, I have to read up why it was named after him.
Lots of explorers here at the time.

If discovered today, no one would be allowed to enter it as it would be declared official green space and subject to UN mandates.

When Australia and Antarctica were discovered, they were also given feminine names.
Article state America is the latin feminine of Amerigo....man discovers, you name it a woman’s name right...it is his girl!
Land is female in general, no? I would assume “America” is the feminine form of “Amerigo”. I could be wrong, though.
