Read it however you like. I stand by my assessment.

I thought the Jesus representation was a bit over-the-top European looking, actually.Yea, it's a little weird and looks like cheap motel art.
There may be a good story behind the picture so I leave it alone. There is plenty of stuff Carson has done and said that removes him from consideration.

Thank you.
This is very different than Christianity. Diametrically different. Christ redeems us by grace. This is what Carson’s biography includes.
Both Carson and Trump are Christians.
Your beliefs are quite different than Christian beliefs and seem to agree more with Trump comments.
Which explains your support of them, but not Trump’s comments.
Folks can draw their own conclusions.

You need to check what was actually said by Trump and what Carson said in his book.

Amnesty is like pounding the country with the claw-end of a hammer 20 million times.

When I am assessing politicians, I am more concerned with prosperity and defending the country against bad actors, including illegal immigrants. Their personal religious beliefs, whatever they are, I can tolerate so long as they do not try to impose them on me and the country.

Why would someone write about himself like that unless prompted by some narcissistic arrogance
John Newton was once a hardened slave trafficker. He became a Christian, and his life changed. He wanted people to know how much God had done for him, how much God had changed him. So he wrote a song. We still sing it today. Amazing grace.
So no, it isn't necessarily narcissism. There's a lot I don't like about Carson, but I don't hold it against him that he had a rough start and overcame it. My dad was a teacher and principle in the Chicago public schools. He helped a lot of young people very similar to Carson escape the ghetto by channeling their energy into great accomplishment. Every one of them would have a story, and they would all be different, except for one thing. They figured out it was up to them to succeed or fail, and they did something about it. Change is possible, and telling that story to people who need to hear it is a good thing, not a bad thing.

SR

As we see in this discussion, *personal* religious beliefs have a way of being revealed in public life.
It matters.

I’d rather elect someone other than a psychologist wannabe who cavalierly attempts to diagnose another candidate’s self-identified era of troubled youth.
If the roles had been reversed and Trump’s past behavior had been likened to that of a child molester, the screams from his supporters would be deafening.

attempts to diagnose another candidateâs self-identified era of troubled youth. No diagnosis needed. Carson admitted to 'pathological' anger and also admitted to acts of violence against family and children.
Child molesters also commit acts of violence against children, ergo there are similarities in their actions.
What's the problem with that?

In your own mind it matters. You are entitled to live with that belief. Like I said so long as they do not push their religion on others, as Muslims do, it does not matter to me. Jews, Catholics, Presbyterians, 7DA, Mormons, are all acceptable so long as they do not proselytize. I will not dis-qualify any of the leading GOP candidates based on religion. I will not be a religious bigot against any of them.

Okay, I didn’t waste my time reading all the prior fluff of this thread (why should I?), but if you are actually being sincere with this comment, and not being sarcastic, you are an absolute IDIOT, and there is no help for you. However, I wish better for you. Tell me I’m right.

So you’d support Trump even if he was a Satanist. As long as he didn’t proselytize of course.
Looking for your limits here - in terms of religious bigotry of course.
The original point was that Christians believe in redemption. Trump claims to be a Christian. Carson claims to be redeemed by Christ. Trump claims Carson cannot be redeemed.
Do you see where your and Trump’s and Carson’s religious beliefs do come into play? How Trump has made it an issue?
