It's been a few weeks now, but I'm sure those pesky characters are becoming annoying. I did see one thread where I moderator say it was being worked on, but I have yet to see a fix. Perhaps fellow freepers can help "crowd fix" / offer possible solutions.

nope didn’t work=- pasted into notepad, tried adding a new word, “test” but it still portrayed the weird characters-
I’ve seen people suggesting pasting into notepad, but it doesn’t seem to be working-

Hey, thanks, that link you posted (below) worked like a charm! I just took a long article with lots of quote marks, etc., and ran it through that tool, and it came out ready to copy and paste, and it showed up here on FR without all those funny characters. Saved a lot of time versus going through and looking for dozens of places to replace.

Use the “preview” function. Where the funny characters show up, go back and re-type them by hand. That fixes it.
Any chance of eliminating them there?
