There was no need to show guns. Most people had common sense in those days and it wasn’t necessary. They were tucked in somewhere.
They don’t show guns because it would go against the narrative they were selling. They were pushing the idea that people in shelters would hang out for a bit, then come out and remake America; and everybody not in shelters would be dead. No need for guns then, as all survivors will be part of the new America united in their purpose.
