Heres what happens if astronomers make contact with a civilization on another planet.
The false alarm happened in 1997.
The Green Bank Radio Observatory in Green Bank, West Virginia, was picking up some unusual signalsand Seth Shostak, then the head of the Center for Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) Research in Mountain View, Caifornia, was convinced that they had come from intelligent life somewhere in the universe.
It looked like it might be the real deal, Shostak recalled. Within a few hours, he had a call from The New York Times.
But within a day, it became clear that the source of excitement was actually a European satellite. To make matters worse, a second telescope in Georgia, which would have told the scientists about the true nature of the signal, wasnt working....

“on another planet”
Oh. I thought they were talking about the White House.
Not a popular opinion but I really do not think there is anyone else out there.
Statistically, there pretty much has to be, if you think about it.
Don’t think so. Lot of variations I know but still don’t think so.
I am still trying to wrap my head around an endless galaxy and endless time in either direction.
I have thought about it. But consider our Earth first. The chances of life on Earth by chance are non-existent, and you want to promulgate the chance of life on any other planet we nothing about, less than we know about our own planet? No, reason would have you say no.
Heard someone say the other day there could’ve been several big bangs, and what was there before the big bang?
Turns out to be a story about the test of a man's belief in God with an excellent back drop of him in a bizarre civilization
The sequal, “Children of God” surpringly, was even better.
If there is a creator.
And if he follows a pattern.
Then at some point life will appear out of life lessness.
Scripture says that the kingdom of God all follows a pattern of seed and harvest.
My speculation is the heavens are designed to spring forth in life by design at every level from sub atomic particles to master clusters of galaxies in an unending space time continuum.
If there is a creator he hasn’t stopped creating only taking periodic rests.
Imagine how advanced another planet would have to be now, to have sent radio signals the thousands of years ago that would have them arriving here now, at light speed.
“The chances of life on Earth by chance are non-existent...”
???
Its almost certain there is. Only a religious belief that God specifically didn’t create anything else, and did so on purpose, could explain nothing else being out there, in the size of the universe.
The size of the universe also means we will never encounter it, ever. Mathematically, the odds are far greater that two individual grains of sand on planet earth would find each other.
Don’t feel bad. I think GOD is the only one that can wrap his head around that.
God rested on the seventh day.
Back to work on Monday.
He meant intelligent life.
“Only a religious belief that God specifically didnt create anything else, and did so on purpose, could explain nothing else being out there, in the size of the universe.”
Yeah, that’s what I think.
