An actor best known for his roles in the television series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Criminal Minds" got into an argument with a girlfriend, choked her and was arrested, police said Thursday.
Nicholas Brendon, who played Xander Harris on "Buffy" from 1997 to 2003 and Kevin Lynch on "Criminal Minds" from 2007 to 2014, faces charges of robbery, obstruction of breathing and criminal mischief, Saratoga Springs police Lt. Bob Jillson said.
The girlfriend told police officers who were called to a downtown hotel on Wednesday night that she had gone to return property to Brendon and told him she intended to leave, Jillson said. But Brendon objected, grabbed her car keys and then threw her cellphone into the street when she tried to call for help, a police report said.
"It sounds like it went downhill from there," Jillson said. "He allegedly grabbed her by the throat and started choking her."

Wow, first I’ve heard of his legal troubles.
“Obstruction of breathing”? Isn’t choking someone just “assault”?
Some formerly successful actors have a hard time making the transition to being ‘just another American consumer’ nothing more or less. I think that, plus what used to be called a mid-life crisis is what’s happening. Some folks are afraid of getting old, and actually kind of angry about it.
Meanwhile, this guy has Rand Paul’s Jheri Curl going on.
Too bad for him he’s not Bruce Jenner who apparently can buy his way out of a manslaughter charge.
The fact that some think that this person’s troubles is something worth posting and talking about is reflective of the lowly collective intellect that abounds in America...
Geezus Christ ... Those of you who gab and gossip about such worthless shit subjects .. Good Grief...
For decades western civilization has been cajoled into a personality cult society. There has been a gradual trend toward far less worthy idols. So here we are today.
People spending there time posting Christ’s name in vain to slur others are much much worse.

You might not want to be standing next to him at the many conventions he goes to.

He was just on Dr. Phil recently and walked off the set when Phil was trying to help him with his problems.
Add a probable substance abuse problem, that unfortunately many these days can identify with. A valuable lesson can be learned from his poor example. Especially for young people who will later turn old, as you pointed out.
A sad example who puts himself in the public with his criminal behavior. There are lessons to be learned and reaffirmed.
He needs a long stint in rehab. Dr. Phil tried to tell him that and he was having none of it. He’s going to end up in prison if he doesn’t reach out for help.

If I’m there I’ll be the one with a 2 pound sledge and a quiver full of tent pegs.
he has said he was a victim of sexual abuse as a child and has had problems caused by depression . btw I did not think his problems were noteworthy except to his fan or fans of BTVS. :)
LoL!
I classify actors (for the most part) with lawyers (for the most part) as professional liars. They look at you with a straight face and say things that are not true.
