A "multicultural creative career fair" aimed at encouraging the hiring of African Americans featured a panel at their event that had no black people in it.
The fair, called "Here are all the black people," is a one-day event that "provides multicultural students, recent graduates, and creative professionals who are interested in exploring careers in advertising and design the opportunity to showcase their talent to top agencies in the industry."
A panel during the fair, however, featured precisely no black people, leading to this ironic photo:
Another angle of the panel was re-tweeted by The One's twitter account:
"Here are all the black people" was put together by the One Club, a non-profit that states they are "the world's foremost non-profit organization for the recognition and promotion of excellence in advertising."
According to the One Club, they present "Here Are All The Black People" "as a forum for the next generation of diverse creative professionals to showcase their creativity. These students, recent graduates, and transitioning professionals, travel in force to this event demonstrating their desire to gain entry into our industry. Courageously, they present fresh ideas to the best agencies and creative leaders in the industry."
Bald guy in the middle could be black.
And what is Mick Jagger doing there? (3rd from right)
Bald guy in the middle could be black.
No , Chinese
They should have started the caption with a W.
Maybe of couple of these folks are claiming to be black.
Should have had some fried chicken and Colt 45’s as hors d’oeuvres.
(do not click send, do not cli
They should rename it "Here Are All The White Guilt People".
Doesn't that imply someone who is looking for a job?
Why is Steven Tyler there? (3rd from right?)
Transracial.
I have stopped attending these advertising and design seminars because they are chock full of panicked recent design school graduates who only want to talk to you if you can help them get hired. I’m always thinking, “I thought this was a design seminar...didn’t realize it was a job fair.”
“Forget competence. We want black people solely!”
The black engineer at work who was always the diversity rep one day asked me if I wanted to be the diversity rep for the next year. I looked at him and said nothing. I’m not sure what my body language said, though. He collapsed in laughter, holding his side as tears ran down his cheeks. Then he went off to tell his buddies about the incident. Apparently they thought it was equally hilarious.
Ah, but I see I spoke too soon. This was a “career fair.”
A few years ago my old roommate, who works in Newark, NJ sent me a group portrait of the Newark City Council at that time. They were all posed for a group photo with a banner that read something like "Newark - A proud past. A shining future.
My friend's comment was, "Well, they got the shine part right".
In that group portrait there was not a single honkey in the mix. It was seriously Laugh Out Loud material... especially if you know all about the absolute graft and corruption in the City of Newark.
Hindsight is always 20/20, but one response might have been that diversity reps tend to be dems rather than reps.
There is not much that really hate....but I really hate white liberals.
That look probably said to him, “Well, to tell a family secret, my Grandmother was a Dutch”.
Hell if Rachel Dolezal and Shaun King can be Black....
