On Fox News Sunday With Chris Wallace, Washington Post columnist George Will said Rowan Co., KY clerk Kim Davis, who is being jailed for refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses, is much like segregationist governors Orval Faubus and George Wallace, who attempted to defy racial integration of schools ruled on by the Supreme Court.

First things don’t have to be the same to compare them. I could compare Obama and Ronald Reagan as presidents. If I said they both served two terms, does that mean I am saying they are the same? Just saying both Davis and Wallace refused to accept a scotus ruling as valid does not equate the rulings, the issues or the people.
I think Will is getting senile.
Man-a-pause
I had fallen into that trap too. Ill say that hes smart but institutionally indoctrinated.
Not really. The First things reveal the motive of the comparison. He could have chosen countless civil disobedience examples. He chose the one he chose of a reason. It matters profoundly. He is morphing into a good liberal by using an emotional example.
I got to hold one of his bats at Louisville Slugger in Louisville that was made special for him. It was a club. Thirty -six inches long with a nice fat barrel. A cave man could have taken it wife hunting.
My point is that people equate “compare” and “equate”. It’s a dishonest trick. Making a comparison is not the same as saying they are the same. In fact, comparisons are more often made to point out differences.
This!
Another damned liberal from the MSM.
Mine too!
I first became a baseball fan in 1969 - near Washington, D.C.
Was will trying to point out differences or similarities?
I go back to 1960 when Frank was NL Rookie of the year. He hit a HR in the first game I saw him play in July 10 1960.
Oh good grief.
And thanks for the reminder. I had completely forgotten that.
Indoctrinees are brainwashed to indoctrinate.
When you said you were a fan when he was a Dodger, I knew you predated me. I didn’t attend that many games at RFK, but I did see him hit a couple of monster shots.
The point is he KNOWS what he writes are lies. But it is his job to tell those lies. He gets paid to say stuff he knows is BULL. Being an indoctrinator is his primary purpose.
Funny how George Will almost effortlessly equates the plight of the American negro with state promotion of aberrant sexual behavior.
I saw big Frank play for the Senators, way back. Believe he was on 1st base.
I got a little bat and a photo of President Lincoln, who was in the owner’s box.
The 1960 game was at the coloseium (sp) Dodgers won 6-4.
The game was against the St Louis Cardinals. Stan Musial played. Didn’t think of the significance of that at the time
