There was no halftime show under the Friday night lights at Mississippis Brandon High School the marching band had been benched.
The band was ordered off the field because the Christian hymn How Great Thou Art was a part of their halftime show in violation of a federal court order.
The Rankin County School Board and District Office are very saddened students will not be able to perform their halftime show they have worked so hard on this summer, the district wrote in a statement to the Clarion Ledger newspaper.
In 2013 a student sued the district over a series of Christian meetings that had been held on school property, the newspaper reported. The district later settled the lawsuit and acknowledged they had violated the students First Amendment rights.

I thought 0bama said he was a Christian, oops, I mean "Christian".
These runt tyrants think they can tell us what to do in our spare time. Just ignore 'em. Let 'em send the police out to enforce their warped rulings.
Why do this students first amendment rights trump everyone else’s first amendment rights.
I has studied the Constitution very carefully and did not find a right not to be offended by something you disagree with.
Did I miss something? Please point it out to me.
This lowlife. God-hater is violating the First Amendment rights of these Americans. Americans need to learn to start telling these black robed government tyrants the meaning of these Amendments instead of asking the tyrants to tell us what they mean.
I remember reading how the early SALVATION ARMY would take a popular non-religious tune and write a hymn to it.
Their reason was...”Why should the devil have all the best tunes?”

Watch this one and see if you can find the subliminal Christian message. Oh, and this Texas band won the state competition that year. This is around 87. Its a good example of what kind of revolutionary socialist government has hit America in recent years.
Refuse.
The OP is no surprise. The only surprise is that the Mongrel-In-Chief didn't sic the (minority driven, ghetto dominated) justice department on the band. Piece of trash that he is.
Yes, the anti-Christian bigotry has been slow in developing but seems to be in a full-blown assault now along with the other godless menaces such as homosexual “marriage” and transsexualism, both of which aren’t mental disorders as much as spiritual emptiness.
It would be funny if a group would stand outside this judge’s courthouse and sing, loudly, How Great Thou Art every day.......
Wow...just wow. I feel bad for the kids. I was in marching band and we would spend the whole summer working on our halftime show. It is a lot of work and memorization. For us, it was the same routine we used for all of our competitions. I wonder if they will have to completely change their routine.
This is where your country is now. Sad.
I'm sick of putting up with Judicial Liars. The US Constitution itself Mentions Jesus and prohibits the President from Working on the Sabbath day.
It is long past time we simply quit tolerating this bullshit. This Hostility to Christianity is completely contrary to our founding laws and principles. It is a lie.
Here's more proof.
All I have to say is: Judge. Rope. Tree.
What needs to happen is for people to put up signs that say:
"This Judge is a Liar. The Constitution of the United States specifically mentions Jesus Christ, and it specifically exempts the President from working on the Christian Sabbath day. "
These Lying judges are contradicted by the facts of our History, and we need to stop tolerating their lies. We need to call them "Liars" constantly.
A lot of Liberal Media people too.
How many complained this time? One?
In a sane world, this unnamed student violated everybody else's First Amendment rights. There is nothing in the First Amendment that guarantees you a right not to be offended. Being offended is a choice.
Now that would be a new twist on the definition of “hanging judge.”
In the mid-90s, my son’s high school band show was based on Emerson, Lake, & Palmer (ELP). One of the selections in the show was “Jerusalem”, the poem of the 1800s set to music in 1916, about Jesus walking the earth in England in an “ancient time.” ELP created a rock version in the 1970s and the high school band played/marched to an arrangement of the ELP song. I wonder if that could happen today under this judge’s ruling.
“Americans need to learn to start telling these black robed government tyrants the meaning of these Amendments”
Exactly. The band should take the field. And force the revolutionary socialist government to physically stop them. They recoil from such events like Dracula from a cross. Witness the Bundy ranch BLM turnback, and the recent VA turnback from a Montana Sheriff.
They DO fear direct refusals.
