If you haven't taken a vacation in a year, you aren't alone.
More than 135 million Americans, or 56%, say they haven't taken a vacation in the last 12 months, compared to 126 million Americans, or 52%, who reported going without a vacation for a year in 2014, according to a telephone survey of 1,000 Americans.
Another 15% of those surveyed said they haven't been on vacation in seven to 12 months and 10% said it has been four to six months, with 16% saying they have been on vacation within the last three months, according to the survey.
A vacation was defined in the survey as a week off of work to a place at least 100 miles away from home.

Math is hard.
Try five years....
The article says, “More than 135 million Americans SAY ...”. That is a straight-out falsehood. The true statement is that around 560 people said, and those people, as well as the around 440 who said they had been on vacation, were not a statistical microcosm of the United States. They were simply 1,000 people who answered their phones and didn’t hang up when they realized it was a poll.
Luckily part of our job IS TO VACATION, but in some places around the world and in the USA we go it is economically very bad.
Because of the religion of war Islam we are sticking closer to home these days.
See lots of closed businesses all across America though.
My assessment is that with 93 million unemployed and the government printing 40% of the investing into our stock market is we are in the greatest Great Depression and are just so lied to and flooded with borrowed social program money that we have some make believe easement.
The storm comes.
Week off? What’s that.
So what.
More than 135 million Americans, or 56%, say they haven't taken a vacation in the last 12 months, compared to 126 million Americans, or 52%, who reported going without a vacation for a year in 2014, according to a telephone survey of 1,000 Americans. The people who hanged up for whatever reason are as irrelevant as those who did not answer the phone... for whatever reason.
You must not accept any poll. Thanks for posting.
What.
Could have something to do with the high unemployment rate, not wanting to be felt up by the TSA thugs, not having the money to drive (until recently) because of the high price of gasoline...
Well done! You have bested everyone so far!
Very true, and unfortunately very funny. Thanks!
I´ve been doing the stay-cation:
Stay working, stay paying taxes, stay baffled why my unemployed neighbors can afford better stuff than me, and stay wondering WTF I keep doing this for....
The last time we were able to take a vacation (not just visiting my parents) was in early 2012 and we did a home exchange to afford it.
Over the last 64 years there were a lot of times I went 5 years or more without taking a vacation.
Whats the big deal about vacations.
