Last time I checked, the Iranian nuclear facilities were in secure underground locations. They might even be proof against small surface nukes.
If an Israeli strike occurs, what I am wondering is, will American fighters be attempting to intercept the Israelis strike?
Doubt they'd go that far. Instead the US would probably leak any Israeli plan they got wind of to the NY Times - which would make it global news and destroy the secrecy of the operation. That would be my guess anyway.
One recent survey found that a staggering 100 percent of the WH do not believe that this deal will prevent the Iranians from developing a nuclear weapon.
Israel over-flies Jordan and Saudi Arabia - not really much US can do, except maybe carrier aircraft over the Gulf, (US Navy stands-down due to "communication issues").
I think Israel hits Iran sooner rather than later (owing to Obozo's pledge of protecting Iran nuke sites), and Saudi's provide logistics support.
US intelligence is in tatters (thanks to Obozo), and Obama finds out about the strike from MSNBC....
Look for a "September Surprise"?
I cannot imagine a US field commander issuing orders to intercept Israeli planes.
I cannot imagine a carrier commander following such orders.
I cannot imagine American Christian pilots firing on Israeli aircraft.
Sub-terrene torpedoes anyone?
