Seattle Residents Rise Up Against Trash Police
IBD ^ | July 24 2015 | Kerry Jackson

t's been said one man's trash is another man's treasure, but in Seattle, everyone's trash is the business of government. Not that it should be that way. But that's the law in Seattle: Food scraps have to be separated from other garbage and recycling material, and compostable paper cannot be conveniently tossed out with the rest of trash.

We've mentioned before here , here and here how asinine and borderline tyrannical this law is. But while we've merely made comment, some folks have taken action. They're suing the city for invasion of privacy.

...and certainly most successful project in terms of native purity (I am told) anywhere in the world.

Perhaps; as I'm in no position to know; but I do quite well restoring MY little patch of dirt to 'native purity' by merely not mowing it!

It 'decided' that the Confederate battle flag is NOW a persona banner non grata at all of it's tracks.

He broke the law by painting crosswalks with rainbow colors. By law, there are standards for crosswalks. Alternating white lines.

It goes to show that recycling is not practical nor is it in any way supported by science. It is a tenet of the green religion, so to question it is to commit blasphemy.

Recycling aluminum cans is probably worth the trouble. We stockpile ferrous metals at home until I have a ton or so to make it worth the trip. Recycling electronics to get the precious and rare earth metals is probably worth it. Plastics? Fuggedabout ever getting them clean enough to reuse. Chip and landfill them until they're worth mining. Paper? Better to burn for heat or compost it. Tires? I have no clue. Food and yard waste we compost anyway.
