No, I don't think so. Target is descended from Dayton - Hudson which then flipped the name around as Target became bigger than its parents.

Macy's was part of Federated, which apparently hasn't been doing all that well for a while, it too had a name flip.

thanks. the nearest macy’s is appleton wi, and the nearest target is marquette, mi. do not shop either to far away. could not remember the parent company name for target. probably thought it was so because at one time there was a corporate connection in minneapolis. but living in the UP of MI, sometimes life is a little slower here. Stores that we do have KFC, McDonald’s, Subway, Synder Drug’s, Shopko Hometown, Family Dollar, and Dollar General. .
